I realize this but this was really really late season to switch, they have all the product in the warehouse and us shipping as we speak. I mean it kinda sucks for shops because now when her jacket comes in you have to say "this Was her promodel...then she switched to Nike about a week ago."
Nike is dope, we have it at our shop and it fits and feels awesome, but its kind of a bummer she just up and left Orage

it's all about when her contract with orage expired and what they offered her vs. what nike offered her. Assuming she isnt just on nike footwear and still on orage.

Women's freeskiing is a very small niche. If you can make any money in it, more power to you. I imagine a Nike contract pays a lot more than an Orage one.

You have to remeber products take a while to design and make. Kaya was wearing her pro model last year, when she was on orage. This year they would all ready pretty much have the 2012/13 jakets ready, so its not like she is jumping ship suddenly. Does no one remember the salomon Candie Thovex pro model that never was.

She may no longer be with Orage but her promodel for this year is still her promodel. She still had input into its design and wore it all last season. How is that different from any other promodel?

Because she wanted to make a living? Im sure she liked both, but given the choice, I think we all want to make money.



Also, are we sure shes on 6.0 outerwear and not just shoes? Because i know Dumont and a few others get shoes from them but are obviously still on their own outerwear thing.

I'd do the same. Pro bladers really don't make that much money. Not nearly as much as pro skiers or other pro action sports athletes.

Seriously? Her orage pro model is one of the sickest looking jackets I have eve seen (including male and female jackets)!!! I love Nike but I am pretty sure she won't get as much input into designing the jackets as she did with Orage. Nike is ill for $$$ for the riders but they are def not making nice jackets like Orage is making and have been making since '89.

no hate on orage at all, in my mind though nike has really sick outerwear for womens snowboarding, its all tall and slim fit...im just stoked to see what they create for womens skiing

Yeah, no hate towards Nike either from my part. The only thing I am pretty positive of is that this is really good for Kaya cashwise but that she probably won't get too much input on the outerwear like she had the chance to do it with Orage.

I'D RATHER BE SPONSORED BY ORAGE THAN NIKE. THEIR STUFF IS WAY COOLER IMO.

BUT IF YOU WERE ONE OF THE BEST SKIERS IN THE WORLD (FOR GIRLS ANYWAY), NIKE WOULD DEFINATELY WANT YOU, AND THEY'VE GOT $$$$$. AND I DONT KNOW ABOUT YOU GUYS BUT I'D SELL OUT LIKE THAT IN A SECOND, DEPENDING ON THE OFFER.

Kaya is an amazing, kind, beautiful girl. To anyone who says otherwise, doesn't know her. So shut your mouth.

Aside from that, Nike 6.0 isn't the same company as Nike. The riders at Nike get an incredible amount of control as far as products go. Nearly all of their lines are designed by the athletes. It's really impressive. They aren't going anywhere anytime soon. They are currently in the process of picking up the BEST talent regardless of if that athlete is known or not. Kaya was a huge move on their part in the ski world considering that as far as slopestyle goes, she is pretty much the only competition.

Too bad for Orage, but I would like to argue to say that they put in amazing features in their mens gear, but their women's line is more concerned about style than it is functionality. Most of their women's ski pants don't even have zip or velcro pockets. How does that make sense? Their jackets are better in that they do make some long fit and Kaya's jacket was pretty sick... but that is where my compliments end.

Ok people, if the company you skied for wanted to cut your salary in half because of their budget problems would you stay or go with a company that has offered you enough to survive and help you get more exposure?

Hmmmn, last time I checked no-one settles for a pay cut in this industry when you are a 4x X Games Gold Medal winner.

dammnmn so much hate. you are all entitled to your opinions.. but i dont think anyone on here knows the whole story. orage was a great sponsor and im stoked to have been part of their family for a couple years. nike's been a dream sponsor of mine forever and im so excited it all worked out with them.
