So im thinking about raising my 1996 subaru legacy outback a couple of inches. Has anyone else done this before? what are pros/cons and do they even make lift kits for my model of subaru? thanks
you can get used forester springs/struts and it will lift yours up about 2.5 inches. did it to my wrx wagon for winter time two years ago and put some BFG AT's on steelies, it was beast as fuck. but not better than my jeep.
you could, but it would be better to have the correct length struts for the amount of lift, otherwise you wont have any downtravel and the shocks will limit the amount of droop which is not good or fun

Because Jeeps do not have the legendary 2.2 liter engine that the mid 90 subarus have. Jeep as dead at 150 k and those generation subies run to 300k. I think I am gonna go with King Springs for a simple 1 inch lift but I am not sure if I should add spacers, if you get this message let me know what you ended up doing lol , I know its 6 years old haha.

Hit a 140k miles on my Jeep, have had $4500 in fixes since I hit about 100K on my 05 Grand Cherokee. I have about $2000 of costs waiting to be fixed but am thinking about selling it and looking for a Forester haha.

legendary for leaky head gaskets... unless it's pre 95 or whenever they switched material.
Its not hard to find some posts about it on NASIOC. Reliability, driveability, and safety all depends on how well you do it, the quality of the parts you buy, and what setup you do. Looking at lifting a 2005 Forester XT myself.

This is pretty much the limit:
93-98 phrase non interface 2.2 engine not head gasket issues, there are about 14 cars online reported have 351k on them and people still drive em. 99 phrase 2 engine was interface and then phrase 3 was 2000-2001, all 2.5 engines have the issue until about 2008-2010, not sure when they resolved the issue, so you are wrong about pre 95.
What did you do to lift that exactly? Springs,spacers, or struts or all of em? What is your ground clearance? Tire size and wheel size? Thank you.
