What does everyone set there contrast, saturation, sharpness to?
I know it depends on the situation, but what do you guys usually set them to? This is really my first time messing around with them. Filming with a t3i if that helps in anyway.
what is the point of asking for help with settings? It's not even winter yet. Your settings are going to change every time you go out to shoot anything. it is stupid to ask what settings to use, figure it out your self so you know how and when you need to change them.
dude read the post. i said i know its going to be different always. and what do you mean its not even winter yet. i didn't specify asking for skiing. I shoot things other then skiing.
it is important for people to be able to make their own decisions, but it can be helpful to get going in the right direction a little bit faster than just trying (personally i learn by going throughout the manual and then seeing how each setting affects the image). With that said, aren't there some settings like sharpness that you always want to have at a certain level, at least on the canon dslr's for filming? I have a gh2, so I dont really know for the canon ones
You asked a question that you answered in your own post. Settings change EVERY time you go outside, there is absolutely no point in asking for help with them.
because when out skiing for example with the glare from the LCD being in the sun, you're essentially taking a guess at what colors are being produced unless you're using false color zebras (only available on ML). And once it's on the camera, you're actually wasting time by having to correct the mistakes made by messing with settings.
But that's just my style. Listen to balto and go figure out what you like
Really? you change all your color settings every time you shoot? idk about you, but i try to keep a consistent picture style whenever i'm shooting skiing, different one for lifestyle, etc.
Mine is this for skiing and most situations:
Picture style: Neutral
Sharpness: 0
Contrast: -4
Saturation: -1
Color tone: 0
occasionally i use this:
picture style: faithful
sharpness: 0
contrast: +2
saturation: +2
color tone: 0
