Kite surf beginner equipment?

Be prepared. It is really expensive. A decent kite costs about 1,000.

i know. still cheaper than mtb-ing and kinda the same as skiing (skis, boots, bindings, outerwear,...)

i saw that i could get something around 1k and i just dont know what i have to look for

ive got a 2005 9m best kite with bar and lines ill give u for 150. its still in great condition, no holes and bladders stay firm. its cheap so u wont worry about crashing when ur learning. u can also use it on snow, which is really fun. pm me if ur interested.

To the OP seriously don't buy a kite older than 2007, most people will say 2009 as a cut off year too. this is mostly due to safety features that were really developed around then (like full de-power and what not). Kiting is super fun but it can be really dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. My big recommendation is to spend the money on lessons and take your time learning the basics and how to kite safely. Kiting is super fun but there's a lot of dumbasses out there who like to take short cuts and endanger everyone around them

Dub post but as far as gear goes Slingshot T3 and Key's are really good beginner kites, and Slingshot has some of the best customer service in the industry. Kite and board size are somewhat dependent as to where you're going to be kiting and how windy it is (and 10-15 knots isn't windy, once you start kiting you'll realize what some people call windy kiters and windsurfers call a light breeze)

wow real cool. i was only trying to help him out and offer a kite for cheap that he can just learn to fly on. no i would not recommend using this kite in the water. but for 150$ its a great kite to learn how to fly, and u could go to a field and use it on snow

Take lessons before you even consider buying any equipment. The instructor can help you with the type of gear you need after the lessons. I just learned this summer, really fun but you can get over your head really quickly if you don't take lessons. You can hurt yourself or others if you don't know what you are doing.

Kiting is dumb, especially wake kiting. Don't do it. Wakeboarding is way easier and way more progressive. Or better yet, buy some wake skis.

i know a friend who has one to learn the whole wind thingy, thx a lot and i live in europe, so it would be a pain in the ass with shipping and stuff

i would rather not spend 200 bucks to fill up a boat for a week of riding. wind power is better

or for $119 you could just buy a new trainer kite.

LESSONS. you NEED lessons. I kiteboarded for 2 years, and getting a lesson at the beginning helped SO MUCH.




And when buying gear, get gear that feels comfortable, and but don't slack out and get super cheap gear. It WILL break on you

Most important beggining equipment you can have is LESSONS. Before you go out and drop $$$$, take lessons to determine what kind of kitting you like to do and buy off what your instructor tells you. don't go buy some ridiculously expensive kite that you don't need.

Okay, first of, if you have the oppurtunity this winter, go learn on snow. Its so much easier and it will be fun from the first day. It will give you enough kite skills to learn by yourself on the water when summer comes.

Secondly, when it comes to kites, get what you you see yourself doing when you get better and consider what your nearby spots has to offer. You can pretty much learn on any kite now a days. Like for example, if you think the wakestyle side of kiting is awesome(basically learning tricks like at a cable park) and have access to sick flatwater get a c or hybrid kite. If you think surfing is cool and have access to sick waves, get a surf style kite and this goes for pretty much every genre of kiting. Race, boosting etc. If you have no idea what i am talking about get a versatile kite like the Naish Park, Slingshot RPM or Cabrinha Nomad.

For kite sizes, it really depends on the wind where you live. I have an 8 and a 12. I use my 8 from 20 kts and up, and my 12 from 14 and up.

For boards you should get a twintip at first. Its smart to get a beginner board thats kinda big and has a low rocker profile(aka flat). This will make stuff easier when you are starting out. Dont get boots at the start either, its easier to start out with straps. Beginner boards is really easy to sell when you want something better too.

Also if money is an issue, buy used! There is probably a local kiteforum for your country, and you can usually find some real gems there. People with deal on kites usually sell stuff really cheap. I got an almost brand new kite for 300 eu when i first started out.

And lastly, stay safe! Just dont be an idiot and youll be fine.

Are you retarded? Wakeboarding is dumb. When I go out behind the boat I'm just longer to control my own power and pace, like you can with a kite. And with all that fuel cost it makes you think whats the point? Wakeboarding behind a boat get boring, cable is more interesting - kiting is by far the best, so many aspects to learn

Kiting allows you to get closer to nature - it's just you and the wind, not some loud boat pissing you off
