BSL question

if im buying skis that are already mounted, how much leeway do i have with the bsl until i have to get them remounted?

depends where they are on the track currently. jesters have something like 10mm either direction if they are currently at the center of the track

 it also depends on where you want to be mounted on ski.

Non demo binders do not allow for the toe to move so moving the heel only changes the boot center

to mount line equation

I skied a bit on tyro rail flex binders they are very easily adjustable to ride + or - a few cm more if you pull binders off rail and adjust

tall stack height though

as mentioned before, it totally depends on the type of binding

to be sure, screw the heelpiece all the way forward, measure BSL and screw it all the way back and measure again, this is the BSL interval that will still fit the binding, but also keep in mind that when putting bigger or smaller boots in your binding, you're adjusting only with the heelpiece so the mounting point will change, more forward (with a smaller bsl than before) or more backward (with a larger bsl than before)....

He's not talking about location...he's talking about taking a ski mounted for a bsl of one number (say 295 for example) and using a boot that is for a different bsl (say 310)...so everything above your post is true...it does depend on the binding (Jesters, luckily, have one of the longest tracks out there, I believe only the PX series has a longer track) and where the heelpiece is located on the track. Honestly, as long as the deal is good and you're happy with the skis, I'd go for it, worst case scenario, you have to remount the heelpiece (unless you want to change the mounting location) and adding a half a mount is no big deal at all.
