Snowbird vs. brighton

so last year i had the same dilemna as i do this year...where to get my pass haha. i have been debating between brighton and snowbird and i cannot decide. i have gotten my pass to snowbird for the last 3 years, and i love it. but their park is not even worth mentioning, and so when it hasnt snowed in a while i feel like it would be fun to mess around in a park, which snowbird doesnt have haha. i also just hate driving brighton's canyon road, its such a bitch haha, so thats another factor. so i like to ski powder/cliffs first, and then park. so, where would you guys get your pass between snowbird and brighton, or what do you suggest?

haha yeah dude i totally would! but i ride with primarily boarders and just a few skiers, so i don't really want to cut them from going with me...were all on the fence, so if one of us makes the decision it will be the decision for all of us hahah.

I hear ya... my Bird pass was worth its weight in gold last yr. Really wanna renew it but I live in PC and just cant justify that drive every time I wanna ski. I think Im going Canyons, then I'll buy the Bird spring pass in March. I love Brighton and can be there in 10mins from my house in the summer with the pass open, but getting there in the winter is a haul.

Yeah like the one guy said it's so long hah. I think it's twice as long as snowbirds canyon drive. But I'll be going up Tuesday's Thursday's Saturday's some Sunday's and some other days as well and possibly nights if I get a Brighton pass

for me its better that way. I would much rather be in a canyon where we can pick out lines we want to hike rather than just driving along the front, plus big very rarely closes, where bird always closes and has long lines

very cool man. im not very trained in the backcountry ways, so i dont want to be one of those retards that you see out there who doesn't know what theyre doing. i would like to learn though thatd be way cool.

why dont you just take a class? Its a great way to begin learning the basics and can also give you connections with kids that like to get out and tour. Its a great feeling knowing that you can (theoretically) ski whatever you see

i'm taking it you are definitely a student then. join one of the clubs on campus, get a snowbird CHAIRS pass, and a brighton NIGHT pass.  chairs is $449 and the night pass is $219 (one of the U's clubs has a deal for $200). best of both worlds in my opinion. orrrr just get the one to where more of your friends are going since you'll be with them.

do not get a chairs only pass. anyone who gets a chairs only pass either a). just doesn't ski the bird enough to utilize it or b). straight up does not know how to ski the bird. it took me a couple seasons (i've got ~250 days there in the last 2 years), but i can't even remember the last time i didn't take at least two runs on the tram during a day at the bird. you essentially miss baldy and totally miss any chance of ever getting baldy fresh. if you want to know why that sucks, well, look at a couple videos i've posted, you can't beat wide open, perfectly pitched pow turns with as much airtime as you want in between.

i had a snowbird pass for about three years and while having the tram available is great, you can still get everywhere via chairs for a pass that is about $100 cheaper.  probably depends more on whether or not your friends have a tram pass....but that's just me.

you have to skate over from little cloud or mineral to get to baldy. and theres no way you're getting fresh if youre gonna do that. also you can upgrade to alta for 30$ if you have a tram pass, no dice on chairs only.


I had the same dilemma about brighton and the bird, the bird wins in my mind everytime because of snow, season length, and shear gnar. i can only see myself getting a brighton pass if i got a legit 9-5 and could only ski nights/ weekends. note you can get brighton night passes buy one get one a lot of times

so i got my pass to snowbird, but i have some money left over after paying my tuition and housing, and i was debating whether or not to get a pass to brighton as well, or get some new gear...what would you guys do? i need some new goggles, but i also want to get into a little more park which i could do at brighton...suggestions? is it worth getting a second pass to brighton or not at all?

Aren't chairs $499? That's what we offer at One.Love, and I believe UFS has the same pass deals up at the U.
But whichever it is, it's totally worth it.
Bird's tha word!!
(And Brighton's pass just went up to full price- their deadlines are early)

ha ya, sorry I didn't double check this year's prices. haven't had a bird pass for a few and that's what i thought i paid then my badddd

kind of a random side note, but if anyone is a student at the U, take PRTS 1450 intro to ski teaching. best class ever!  i know quite a few members on here have taken it and it's been mentioned in previous forums, but i don't think people quite understand the stoke of this class.... great people, great vibes, great snow, and a $100 pass.  the class costs under $400 i believe, so combined it is still less than an alta college pass.  it's only offered in the fall, but definitely something to think about if you're at the U for a few more semesters!

stay at snowbird, brightons park is set up for snowboarders. its a hassle. and well, you know how sick snowbirds terrain is compared to brightons..
