Download and burn a copy of Knoppix. It's a version of Linux that runs right of the CD, doesn't have to touch the hard drive. No installation, stick it in and 3 minutes later you have Linux. And it includes The Gimp 2.0

I tried Gimp on windows a while ago and it was pretty unstable, hopefully that changed.
