Need help with HDMI/Mac hookup

the top one is MDP to hdmi, the second is DP to hdmi. make sure you get the right cable. which machine to you have?

idk about the macbook, but you also might need a cable for sound too.

mini display port won't do sound. you need an audio cable, too.
get all your shit here: http://optimization-world.com all their stuff is really high quality, super cheap and they ship crazy fast for free

I can just hook my speakers up to my computer though if I run the video through the HDMI, correct?

ah my bad, didnt click the link, just read hdmi.

i run my mac to my tv with an hdmi, then just plug computer speakers in when you need sound.

no. hdmi to hdmi can.

I have a mini display port adapter to HDMI, then an HDMI cable running to my TV, and I can route the sound to my TV.

Read the reviews of the adapter that he posted, you can route the sound to TV's on newer MBP's

Mini displayport CAN do audio through HDMI if you have a new enough computer. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4241?viewlocale=en_US

which is why I put the IDK in front of my post.

with my macbook pro there is no sound through the mini dvi. Therefore you need to also hook the computer up to speakers also. but since I DIDN'T KNOW about the macbook I also informed the poster that he might need a cord for that too.

but you are correct about the joys of newschoolers... people responding without knowing what they are talking about.
