i mean c'mon, really?! elementary school was that fucking difficult that you can't figure out how to use then/than correctly or hear/here or there/they're/their, how about you're/your? it makes people look so brainless.


*yes, i did not use capitalization and my sentences are fragments. I know.

i remember when i was 14 and was like omg pro skiers, omg omg.
then i realized if i dropped out of highschool and did not pursue any post secondary education, i could probably be like them too.

most pro's are dumbbb, they ski all day errday, what do you expect?

I probably get more pissed off than anyone else regarding improper word usage, and grammar. This site is like a freaking mine field. However, I had an english teacher in high school that said your spelling ability is about the way you read, not your intelligence. I mean, take it for what it's worth, I'll still think you're a tard if a 4th grader could compete with you in a spelling bee.

haha okay but how is the way you read not linked to intelligence? i just dont see how knowing the way letters and roots work is any less linked to intelligence than figuring out math problems or anything else..makes no sense

since its in quotes someone else could have written it. nick would be the speaker and the writer would be the retard. or they are all retarded. Maybe nick got his education from florida, since you can see my grammar. Maybe this is why i dont have a job. Holy fuck i need to go back to school.

Spelling really has nothing to do with how smart someone is. Semantics are difficult for some people(including me), but that doesn't necessarily take away from their brilliance. In fact you could even make the argument that many of the most intelligent people of all time were dyslexic(Einstein, Edison, Churchill, Da Vinci).

And grammar is completely dependent on your audience. If someone used bad grammar in a job application then i would agree, but as the ad is depicting a birthday card from the 'evolution of sapiens' I would say it is ok, if not fitting that he used bad grammar.

So herpy de fucken derp ya retard.

haha i knew at least one person would come in and claim that. intelligence has everything to do with spelling, how can you claim otherwise? just because some people that were brilliant in some fields were shitty spellers, or even had learning disorders, does not mean spelling has nothing to do with intelligence haha. what an argument

You didn't even make an argument... Spelling is just an abstraction that we created to represent symbols. Someone tells you how to represent a symbol in characters and you memorize the pattern. Where is the problem solving or complex reasoning? These are the areas that I use to define intelligence. Spelling is just a bunch of memorization and semantics (poorly designed semantics in the case of the English language).
