ZimmermanSmoking weed every day is not that bad for you either way.
I understand it affects people differently but I function at a pretty high output rate in school. I really just don't smoke before reading because I find it hard to read critically. Not trying to flaunt that I smoke like every day but I do not think it makes everyone lazy and useless.
-benedettoFor sure it has kept me in a bunch of times. Now I look forward to going out for a drink on the weekends as a treat. The gym is a great release as well and will help in appetite and sleep after quitting. The munchies catch up with you quick. I used to eat a whole jar of peanut butter for fun when stoned.

theabortionatorIt def doesn't. It's just a shitty stereo type. For me it was motivation. I would get high and I would do fucking work.
Some people it's the golden medicine they need, other people it's like drinking and just to get a little weird on the weekends. Either way it just depends on the person.
speedinNot getting into a marijuana debate. But yes it does! It is a downer man! Not an upper! Many people including myself are able to do daily function activities high as hell.
People think it's the golden medicine, but for most it truely is not.
WordupVTI was smoking multiple times per day for the past year. Lacrosse started up and I realized I was in horrible shape, so I am trying to cut down usage. Defiantly challenging because of things people already mentioned like getting to sleep and eating. It's been about two weeks now and instead of smoking everyday I have cut it down to roughly 3 times a week or less.
I haven't really noticed any difference yet, besides my lungs feeling a little more clear.
I am hopefully moving to Denver this summer, so that isn't gonna help...
louie.miragsfor the millionth time man.. It is a psychological addiction. Before I quit I could not imagine going without it. I smoked before school, after school, on break from school, I had to smoke sometime before work, before dinner, after dinner, all damn day. I don't know what I would do without it because I always made sure I had it. I imagined life to be dreadfully boring without it. Spending so much money on it. That's addiction. Sounds like you're in denial. When I was a stoner I was also afraid to admit I was addicted, even though I know I was. It definitely jacks your body's reward system.
Now I am aware of how freeing it feels to be sober, I can ease back into smoking occasionally (after I land this job). Perhaps the best thing is the social aspect. No more not being social or missing shit to smoke. No more replaying minor events in my head and making them negative. No more being paranoid about stupid shit; almost ruining my current relationship for example.
LabattskiWait for the nightmares to start happening every night after stopping it sucks
SpssPick up a heroin habit then try to quit then youll have a clue what addiction is. Weed doesnt directly influence the reward system in your brain, so quitting it is a fuckong joke compared to quitting a drug that does. No, irritability isnt wd

speedinWhile heroin is the devil and is for sure worse.
To say that withdrawal from weed is a fuckin joke is pretty closed minded.
Addiction comes in many different forms, and effects people differently.
My good friend kicked heroin habit by himself!!!!
He didn't use methadone, or suboxin, he did it by himself.
Addiction has a lot to do with someone's mental state. Whether that he heroin or weed.
Side note day 2 of no weed. When i get to a week of no weed, I'm going to quit cigs.
If I can use weed sparingly and not smoke cigs, I know I will feel better.
-benedettoThat dude is a no good troll. Anyway, keep it up man.
speedinThanks buddy. Strange today, I feel like I have taken adderall. Sooooo much more energy then before. I realize that smoking that morning bowl was doing nothing but making me a zombie infront of my work station all morning.
I think I am going to purchase an E-Cig, to help me quite smoking. I know a few people that a have quite smoking using hte E-Cig. They slowly reduce the amount of nicotine in their liquid to where eventually it contains no Nicotine, and then they stop completely.
Coughing up black shit, has scared the shit out of me.
-benedettoNot a bad idea using an e-cig. I quit 2 years back using the gum and lozenges but it's the same idea. Start chewing gum to keep ya occupied and you'll eventually realize the stench left behind after smoking a cig. I'll admit though, since quitting bud, I picked up a nasty habit of smoking black and milds but I hate it. Gonna attempt to kick the habit pronto
RubberSoulno it doesnt. nothing's worse than people blaming their own mistakes on weed. "oh well i smoked the mildest drug in the world, and am lazy, it must be the weed's fault." man up and take responsibility for your actions.
it's as if i told you guys the only time i blaze during the day is before running sometimes (that part is true), and since i run at least 5 miles every time, weed makes you energetic and good at running. of course it doesnt, it's just that im a person, making decisions to do things, after i happen to smoke some grass. don't be a lazy sack of shit and get your shit done and you wont have to blame your mistakes on something else like a child
that isnt directly to you, smashmouth, i really like a lot of your posts, this post is just directed at the multitudes of people who pull this shit. this "weed made me lazy" shit is just too stupid to read all the time. while we're at it, can all the people that suck ass at life just stop blazing? youre making us look bad
jfpAnyone that thinks cannabis dependence isn't real isn't doing their homework http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabis_dependence. as of last May it is medically recognized as a disorder in the new dsm-5.
In other posts throughout the thread, heavier smokers complain of being unable to sleep or eat well, these are two mere physical symptoms. It really depends on how heavy a smoker you are, how many years you have been smoking etc.
I know people that smoke up to an eighth a day for many years and when trying to quit face withdrawal symptoms such a extremely sweaty hands, night time bedsweats, extreme irratability, insomnia, loss of appetite, vivid crashing dreams/nightmares, lasting usually for 2-5 weeks. Bear in mind these are extremely heavy smokers but to say that marijuana is not addictive and you felt nothing when you stopped means probably you havent smoked enough for enough years, you are young and in essence still "fresh". give it a decade and you shall see.
speedinI am a little irritable, having a hard time falling a sleep, slight decrease in appetite, but the worst (for me) is the consistent sweating. Holy shit! My palms are always sweaty, but last night I had to change my boxers and t-shirt 3 times, because I kept waking up soaked.
Like I said I have been blazing pretty heavily for the past 10 years. The past 5 more so.
Besides that, I feel soo energized it's unreal. Feel like I haven taken Adderall. I am also able to concentrate better at work.
I am shooting for 8 weeks clean, then just smoke on Sundays, or a few times a month.
No need for me to be blazing like I have been. Does nothing but hinder me.
Phil-X-full week in, I took two dabs 2 days ago because my friend scooped a 1.6k JP Toro Frothaloon and I had to appreciate it.
speedinWeak!
jk
Wall_NutCold turkey is easy if you give yourself reasons to quit.
I quit a little over a month ago, and it's the best I've ever felt. I still get down, but it's a lot easier to bounce back. Anyway, here's some reminders that helped:
1. I'm in college, I don't have time for that shit.
2. I'm a more sociable and generally happier person.
3. Weed achieves bliss, not happiness.
4. I have more energy and focus to devote to my passions
5. Weed achieves bliss, not happiness.
.....Just my .02
Phil-X-I agree, but if anything it made me not want to smoke more because I got uncomfortably high
m1k3vbMan that's fucking lame that you get tested at work holy shit
m1k3vbLol if America is the real world then please kill me now
louie.miragsOh give me a fucking break! We live on the same landmass divided up by made up borders. To think Canada doesn't have its own problems is just ignorant. We're all people.
m1k3vbOk, I agree, we're all people, but to just accept a stupid and invasive practice like company drug testing as part of living in the "real world" is wrong. I would say that anything that comes from the vast majority of politicians or corporations these days is just about the farthest thing from "reality" you could get.
DirtyDanQuit around this time last year, and I can't recommend it more.
I have a feeling weed is subversively more dangerous than we know yet. I mean this mentally. Anecdotal at least, I've noticed that weed is the drug that changes people the most after they start using it. I don't know if "lazy" is the right word, but it makes you okay with doing nothing, I remember getting really "profound" thoughts from it that were just really basic ideas. The worst part is the anxiety and this kind of "hazy" depression.
I don't know if it's fair to say, but take a look at a lot of people who don't smoke weed: they are usually motivated and workout, and smile a lot. Most smokers I know tend to become really cynical and almost "tired" of life to the point where they just listen to music all day and shit. Also, these people tend towards more "fringe" cultures that aren't necessarily bad, but it raises the question of weed correlating with socially abnormal behavior.
The worst part about it is the "cult"ure surrounding it. I'm probably going to get crucified here, but there is such a devoted following of people that will cover their ears and scream "WEED IS FROM THE EARTH! SUPER HEALTHY! BLAZE IT! IM NOT ADDICTED!! IT IS THE MEDICINE FROM MOTHER EARTH!" This is the same reason that the study from the Neuroscience institute last month was largely ignored by most people. Cognitive dissonance.
This is coming from a guy who does harder drugs (such as alcohol) but at least I know exactly how they damage my body.

speedinWent to my buddy's house to watch the hockey game yesterday. I ended up taking a few hits. Made me feel real uncomfortable, and very very tired. I woke up this morning feeling very out of it. I have finally realized that I have been walking around in a daze for many years. I don't like feeling soo lethargic like that. Made me not want to smoke even more.
I am done for a while.
DirtyDanThis is coming from a guy who does harder drugs (such as alcohol) but at least I know exactly how they damage my body.
BrewskiJrYou almost had me until this sentence. I get it, alcohol is way worse for you and is more addictive.. I still refuse to call alcohol a "hard drug" Not hating, just My $0.02

DirtyDanTo clarify on that; I consider anything that alters your mind a drug. (Caffeine, tylenol, nicotine, weed, alcohol). And by "harder" I just meant "more physically taxing" taking into account puking, stumbling, hangovers, etc. But I have dabbled in most "true hard drugs" as you would put it, and none seem to create the illusion of harmlessness like pot.
theabortionatorYou need to invest in a good vape my friend
