So apparently people think that they're very smart or enlightened when they've been banned and 'beat the system' by coming back to the site.
So let me explain to everyone what it really means to be banned, how it works, etc, so that these little quazzi wanna 'crackers' get over themselves.
When you log in, there are two pieces of information that Newschoolers collects:
1. Your login name (obviously)
2. Your ip address
For those that don't know, an ip address is a unique set of numbers that each computer connected to a network is given. It changes either every time you log onto the Internet, or if you have a 'static' ip, it changes every couple of months.
So given that, there are two ways to ban people.
1. Ban your login name (can not ever log in again with the same user name)
2. Ban your ip address (can not log in using the same computer, unless the ip address changes... so in essence, it's a computer ban, not a person ban)
And to get around being banned is just as basic:
1. Create a new login name
2. Use a different computer
So there you have it.. the big secret is out. Being banned is a temporary solution and is really quite useless.
That being said, we're currently implementing some things that will at least slow the rate at which someone can spam. They can still be assholes, but it just won't be quite as annoying.
