Marker Griffons on my EP Pros?

So I just bought some ep pros, and I need to grab some bindings for them. I don't want to drop a bunch of cash on bindings, and a place by my house is selling griffons for like 140.. So I figure, unless they suck, that's probably what I will get. I will obviously have to order a wide brake because the skis are 127 underfoot. I just don't want to get something that I'm going to break my first time out on them. I have the full tilt booters, and I heard that griffons fit with full tilts the best.. I also have my DIN at 12 on my park skis and my old powder skis, and so I wonder if the griffons will be strong enough to hold my weight and what not. Any suggestions/ feedback?

what griffons? if they're the 12 you probably want to go bigger on the binding, maybe a jester.

how big are you going that you need to set your din at 12? you might be asking for a blown knee sir

If your ridin a din of 12 I wouldn't even attempt the griffs....that's a maxed out din on the older model and jus one under the current.....I can't imagine your gonna be ridin all nice and grounded on the ep pros either so no....it's a bad idea....plus I thought the full tilts were the boots that were having issues with the griffs and specifically the booter....awww....wait a minute here.....haha....you got me trolly troll.

Sorry guys I just got a membership on NS, that's funny that you said what you did, I don't know if that means you think I'm like a fake or something. I really do weigh 190, and I would consider myself a fairly aggressive skier. I seriously just asked because I was curious.. That is why I got a NS account in the first place was to get answers to my questions. Thanks guys.

if you ride a 12 din (which is quite high, even for your weight ...) you'll be riding at the very edge of the bindings DIN range....

if you really think you are ok at riding on DIN 12, look into at least a 14 DIN binding so you have some room before maxing out the binding ....

is there a reason why your park skis are DIN 12 ? i weigh 170 lbs and ride my park planks at 8 DIN, are you sure your bindings are adjusted properly ?

because even a 18 DIN can prerelease if it's not adjusted properly ...

Well my toe piece kinda got messed up early last season, so I just cranked em up. They still came off when I needed them too. I think I could probably get away with having them a little lower, but since I didn't have any problems with it, I just left it. My powder skis I just cranked up, because I was sick of digging for my skis after a fall.. That is my reasoning.. I would just ask at the shop, but they are obviouslygoinge to try and sell me the most expensive binding they have in there..

maybe look into some 14 DIN or 15 bindings, like the STH14 driver or tyrollia/peak 15 or marker jesters
or look PX14 or pivot 14s ....(or higher)

I find it somewhat odd though that you asked about the griffs and full tilt and then specifically the booter....because if memory serves me correctly the full tilts were the boots that had toe issues on the griffs and the booters were specifically a problem....but if your legit and want a serious answer then no....don't use the griffs on the ep pro....def go jester or even a look/Rossi pivot/fks 140 or 180/14 or 18.

Honestly I had never heard that. The guy at the ski shop said that they would be perfect and blah blah blah.. He obviously is just eying to sell them to me. I got the boaters last year and have loved them, and I have had rossi bindings on my other skis, I just didn't know if it was time to try something different.. I appreciate the feedback though.

I've worked in shops for years and have not seen the problem with Full Tilts and Marker.

The new Griffon 13 has an adjustable height AFD anyway so there is no risk of interface issues.

yeah, i heard some troubles with toeslop on griffons, especially with FT, however this problem should be resolved since the 09-10(?not sure?) royal family update ...

I mostly just don't want to get something and end up hating it.. I guess with the adjustable toe piece, it will probably take out alot of those issues. Either way I am going to have to buy an xxl brake.. I just dont want to end up spending like 450 on bindings..

Yeah the 11/12s have an adjustable toe piece that solves the issue....that said though if your not gonna ride above an 11 din then yeah the new griffs will work....I rode my opus with em a few times this spring and they were fine....then reading ns gave me neurosis over the plastic heel piece and I had a hook up so I ended up getting jester pros and slappin those on there.....the friggin heel piece on those is rock solid but heavy as heck....I forsee swing weight issues with spins but at least I won't be all paranoid over a catastrophic heel piece failure at the most inopportune time now....haha....so anyway if your tryin to go inexpensive but still want quality jus do some searching for leftover fks 14s....might be tough to find new leftover jesters but you could give that a shot too.

you dont want to max out a bindings din. go with the jesters or some other binding with at least a 14 din
