I'm looking to buy a cheap...ish machine foe editing using gopro and t2i footage on final cut pro. I like the Mac OS but not the prices. Ive been looking at getting one of this year's imacs but can probably only afford one of the 21.5inch base models.

Would it be better to get one of the current generation of imacs or a better specced older machine?

I'd get a hackintosh if you don't want a laptop.

tell me your budget and I'll suggest you a build from tonymac to follow. It's wicked easy to build, and hack, a desktop if you follow a guide from them. They have everything from BIOS settings to step by step guides for everything you have to do
