Recently, i've been doing an extensive amount of research on the festival/rave scene around the world. Along with the music and positive vibes that come along with these shows, it also produces a great amount of the word that everyone seems to despise, drugs.
This past year i've attended many shows and festivals such as camp bisco x and Identity . I've been all over the globe to see rusko, bassnectar, nero, PL, skrillex, 12th planet, Run DMT, Excision, Datsik, Antiserum, Downlink.... Well you get the gist. Overall, all of these experiences were both a combination of good and bad. CBX was straight madness, people fucked up on whatever you could possibly think of, no rules, no boundaries. After ID Festival I read this article by the Bunk Police, a group of people who test the drugs that you bring to them so you can actually get a sense of what you have REALLY been ingesting into your system. I found it very interesting, only because i can relate.
One of my friends decided to search for some type of upper before Datsik, Nero, and ruskos set came on. Normally i would say that the drug of choice at these stupid festies would be ecstasy, personally i hate this shit after seeing what excessive amounts of it does to people. One of my friends instead found what he had thought was "LSD". Little did he know that this was everything but LSD. All of my friends bought over 15 hits from this guy, i was curious so i purchased one myself. As soon as it hit my tongue, i could taste bitter chemicals. At this point in time i spit it out of my mouth and then proceeded to question this burnout on what he had dropped on the blotter papers. Obviously, no logical answer from the buck toothed wook. Luckily, i had only taken one of these, two hours later my friend who had got them at first was off the walls after taking 3 at once, not really sure what to describe this as. Concluding at the end of the day that it was liquid speed or DOB/DOX. These are researched chemicals meaning that NO ONE knows how they alter the brain. Whatever this chemical was gave every person in my group unnecessary amounts of energy with the feeling of a physcadelic trip, but minor hallucinations. We searched and searched for the person who was feeding the festival raw chemicals, but of course no luck. It scared me right out of the scene FOR GOOD.
Bunk Police Article:
Over the last month our group has tested nearly 2,500 substance samples presented to us by patrons of music festivals and concerts.
The results have been truly sobering. Nearly 100% of samples are cut with one or more substances, and they aren’t using baking soda anymore.
Research chemicals, sold as “bath salts” or “plant food” have become an alarming issue. Nearly 60% of “Molly” (MDMA powder) samples tested at Wakarusa, Bonnaroo, Electric Forest and Camp Bisco contained large quantities of or were completely comprised of one or more of these chemicals. Many of these “research chemicals” present very real overdose fatality risks and have been in news all over the world. There were 8 overdoses attributed to tainted MDMA powder at Camp Bisco. Three of those individuals are no longer with us.
An overwhelming majority of tested LSD samples were negative for the chemical. In the best-case scenario, the sample was just paper. In most instances, the LSD we tested contained compounds such as DO(x), a dark hallucinogen with a three-hour onset (leading to multiple doses) and can last for over 24 hours. Overdose effects include memory loss, irrational and sometimes violent behavior and the possibility of causing harm to oneself. At high doses, analogs of this chemical have the power to change the way the mind works permanently.
