I'm about to by some used ski's. they seem pretty good but about an inch of edge is missing. Does anyone know if thats fixable? and how will it efect my skiing in everyday park?

Well I'm no tech but had a buddy do this to a set of skis on a rail....he took em to his local shop and they said scrap em cause they couldn't do it....don't mean it's not possible....jus conveying what I've seen bud.

thanks, how do they ride with abit of missing edge? is it noticable?

Pulled out edge is a whole different ball game than crushed edge, if its just pulled out then its fixable, if its pulled out and the side wall is crushed, then it scrap heap worthy. Riding with no edge is not a good idea, as water will get in the core and compromise it, take it to ur shop, or post pics to get a legit evaluation.

there are ways to fix it but it needs to be done professionally and may cost a bit. they're afterbangs though, they will get beat up and they aren't an expensive ski in the first place.

you may be able to fill the gap with some ptex if you want a cheap fix. as far as riding with missing edge, andy parry and will wesson both ride skis with no edge under foot (line does this for them though, im pretty sure)

and i would probably round the edges down where the edge stops, to prevent the edge from catching and ripping the entire thing out.

and where i said 'fill with ptex' i think epoxy would work a lot better.

^this....sorry it took a bit....but yeah my buddy filled with p-Tex and only used them for hikin rails until he totally ripped out the edge but it worked for like a season....but like I said he only used it for rails....he was too sketched to actually ride em around.

so the thing about replacing edges is that it works if you are just skiing groomers. Most shops that can do it charge a lot for it, and it's really just for people that hit a rock and fuck up part of their edge. I replaced a chunk of edge about 3" long right under foot on my park skis by my self(and yes i do know exactly what I am doing), and even with some very strong epoxy, it only stayed in for about a week.

Even if a shop replaces the edge, it will never be as strong as it originally was. In my opinion it is a waste fo money and a temporary fix.That being said, I have been on a pair of pipe cleaners with 2 feet of edge missing underfoot on both sides of each ski for the whole summer. If you are just hitting rails. it is still okay, just scissoring is a little less precise. If you are into carving turns or whatever the kids do these days then you might want some edges. Fix it if you want but if you hit rails it will rip out quickly.

just put a bunch of epoxy there and round down the ends of the existing edge

They'll probably ski fine, just put a little epoxy in there so it doesn't get waterlogged. Eventually more and more edge will rip out (if you ski rails/boxes) and you'll have to put more and more epoxy on. After you're missing like 6 inches of edge it can slow you down considerably.
I wouldn't pay more than like $50 for skis like that though, if you do you're getting ripped off

yup i mainly hike rails when i ski, and i dont ski ski hard on groomers. thanks guys . but how much would it cost (aprox) to get epoxy?

Get three pieces of UHWM plastic, the epoxy wont bond to this stuff really well. Fill the edge gap with epoxy, anything will work, but the best is this G-flex stuff you can get at West Marine. Put plastic on the top and bottom of the ski, clamp in place. Insert the last plastic piece between the two, butting it up against the sidewall and clamp it, wedging it in there and applying pressure to the site from all sides. Set if for 24 hours, then remove the clamps and UHMW, file down the sharp sides of the epoxy fill till they're round.

And start looking for new skis.
