Good car that you can sleep in

Anyone got any suggestions for a car that is big enough to put the seats down etc. and sleep in. Something that drives decent in the snow, is not to expensive and has good gas mileage.. My dad is looking for a new car.

Something like a nissan roque or a Honda element? Preferably not american made, want something that lasts long, is cheap/easy to fix if it has problems

If you're just sleeping 1-2, go for a hatchback.. if you need to sleep more, get a hotel room.. da dum psh. Really though, like the guy above me said.. subarus are great in the snow if you put a halfway decent m/s or snow tire on them. And if you get a hatch you can store assloads of stuff in there and sleep comfortably.

WAGONS! Audi and VW wagons are the way to go! I have a jetta wagon and when I put the seats down I can comfortably fit, and I'm 5'10".

A Jetta Wagon, Passat Wagon, or Audi A4 Avant would be perfect. The Audi will do better in the snow.

BUT, if you're looking for the dream of all wagons, get the Audi Allroad. It's going to be more expensive, but so worth it.

Subaru Legacy. where it lacks in clearance, it excels in everything else. don't forget to get the 5 speed. automatic is for chumps.

depends on your price range. id say an audi a4 avant or a3 (they arent that big though). you cant go wrong with a subaru forester or outback. my mom is actually looking at a forester or honda crv.

if you're looking for something bigger, my dad has a nissan pathfinder and they're ballin. 7 seats, 3 rows, back 2 fold down (ill post a pic) and high off the ground. get some good tires and your good to go.

Nissan Pathfinder - it's got plenty of room in the trunk & good clearance in case winter hits & you're still in your car.

I know its american made but i sleep in the back of my jeep cherokee al the time. It will sleep 3 kinda comfortably and 4 if you need too.

my subie outback is actually kinda small. I have to sleep crooked, like diagonal in order to fit comfortably. So sleeping 2 in there may be tight...unless it's a dog or a babe

ELEMENTS ARE AWESOME because they turn into queen size beds. SO IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A CAR TO SLEEP IN a queen size bed that turns into a car is probably your best bet.

I know it's american, but either a Yukon xl or suburban. They are reliable, have shit loads of room, and are really good in snow. My friend put 2 hammocks in the back, you don't need a bulky mattress or anything, you still have a ton of room underneath, and they are really comfortableto sleep in, like a cocoon.

also an option is something like this, just a truck with a canopy, this is mine, me and my girlfriend go camping out of it all the time, and its unstoppable in the winter

A dodge sprinter if it won't be his daily driver. But i've slept in my outback plenty of times and it's possible though not comfortable to fit 2 people in there with the seats down

any wagon will do. As long as the seats fold down. I've got an old Mitsubishi magna wagon and we slept 3 in there. 2 in the back and 1 in the front.

Get a 4 season 2-4 person winter tent and pitch it next to the car. Get one of those inflatable car camping mattresses. You will be much more comfortable in it then in any car or truck short of a RV style vehicle.

Otherwise, 1/2 truck with 6+ ft bed and crew cab.

JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, I've slept in my drivers seat at camp bisco and it was the best nights sleep I've ever had, I've also slept in the back no problem, plus it's great in snow and decent on gas for a SUV. There's nowhere you can't go in a jeep and there fuckin bulletproof

I'm 6'1" and if I'm sleeping in my Legacy by myself I can sleep diagonally and fit beautifully. When I have my gf sleeping in there with me I have to keep the back open a bit so my feet can hang out a few inches. I have a futon mattress in there while sleeping, so it is usually enough to keep the back from closing. I've never attempted this in the winter, but I have done it when it's pouring rain and kept dry. Not super great in really buggy areas though.

I love my chevy avalanche.  I just drop the midgate and I have a huge 8ft longbed that's great for sleeping in.  Even loaded up with bags/skis/boots etc there's still tons of room to fully stretch out and get a good nights sleep.  They even came out with a special tent that is made for the bed of the avalanche, but it's not needed since the bed panels are there so it's contained.

Sure gas mileage is the trade off of any truck, but the advantages are numerous.
