Armada Alpha 1 vs. Salomon Twenty Twelve

I would choose the alphas over the salomons any day. I have ridden the Alpha 1 and they are really nice. Took them in the trees and charged grromers as well. still had lots of fun with them in the park. Fun to butter around with the rocker in them but very forgiving because of their stiffness. Also has a race base which is a plus. I have heard the Salomon 1012 durability can be hit and miss (like the suspect) and are not very stable on the jumps.

I would for sure go for the Armadas.

Ive never ridden either but i have heard that the Alpha !'s hold up EXTREMELY well. Obviously, Salomons have been known for not holding up very well. If you look on the Salomon website, the 2012's are not meant as a park specific ski anymore, they perform better on the rest of the mountain. The alphas are truly meant to ski the park. I would choose the Alpha 1's.

if u ski 85% park alpha 1's all the way. such good swing weight, quick turn radius, buttery if u want it to be, great ski. and so damn durable

I'm going to go ahead and buck the trend and recommend the 2012's. Best park ski I've ever had, stable but buttery on jumps, light and durable on rails (Only one edge crack after a whole year of rail abuse), and they handle west and east coast powder with surprising ease, something you wouldn't be able to tell at first by glancing at this ski. I've seen alpha's with tips delaminating to the point where they are unsafe to use after less than a year of use, so I beg to differ from the above posters. No, you won't be ripping gs turns on east coast ice with a rockered park ski, but if you want to do everything short of that, the 2012 is for you.
