Hey Newschoolers!

We just wanted to remind all of the new and up-and-coming webisode producers out there that the deadline for entries in the NSTV Pilot Project contest is this Monday (September 5th) at 9pm PST/Midnight EST.

For those of you who missed it, click here to check out all of the details (https://www.newschoolers.com/ns/cult/contest/id/5234/cid/15/), but in a nutshell, we're looking to become the presenting sponsor of a new or up-and-coming webisode series, and are offering a $1,200 contract to whoever ends up winning.

Once the deadline for entries has passed, you, the kick-ass Newschoolers community, will have one week (from Tuesday, September 6th - Monday, September 12th at 9pm PST/Midnight EST) to vote for your favorites, and then the Newschoolers staff will pick the winner and announce it at the IF3 Palms Awards on Saturday, September 17th during the Nike 6.0 International Freeski Film Festival.

So if you're a webisode producer looking for a sweet hook-up, if you haven't already...get on it!

Yep. The one thing I'm worried about. Even if Abe's doesn't win I'm not gonna be pissed, because there are some really, really good entries.

I'm hoping the "bracket-style" rating will help avoid popularity. But who knows.

May the best webisode win.

some of them might be just season that, however speaking on behalf of 403MEDIA's entry, it was a season recap which was the 5th episode in the first season.

I agree with the generic ski edit thing, I envision my webisode series completely different from what I actually produced for the contest. The only options I saw was to film random summer stuff or re-edit footage that you got in the winter to show people what kind of riders you will be featuring. Its not like you can make a skiing webisode with relative new content in the middle of the summer, thats why I just picked one of my favorite songs and tried to show off a wide variety of editing skills along the way.

(I also found out about the contest two days before the deadline so I had severely limited time coupled with aggravating technical problems. Also sorry about the terrible artifacts at the beginning.)

likewise on finding out about it so I just used the pilot from a show we'e finished 4 episodes on at the end of our pitiful central pennsylvania season. its not even close to the production value we're putting into our full season of the series this year, but I think its worthy for the fact that it's actually a show, and not an edit. plus our the featured skiing is sub-par at best (no offense to all the guys/gals I film, but we all know this isn't a banger edit hah).

If you want something other than the generic ski webisode, this is it.

Even go to Twenty2s videos and watch some of them, they are all guaranteed to induce lulz and have that happy vibe metioned above. Pure Awesomeness.

modesty never won anyone a contest. think about government elections... there are ads on TV, radio, newspaper... people calling your house, walking around dropping off flyers. In order to get ahead you have to have exposure ie people posting about a certain video that is good ie twenty2's "Totally Trevor". I'll even help you out with a link so you don't have to waste your time finding it.

are the ratings not showing up for anyone else? cause yesterday and today i've gone to the video page and the videos have been in the same order ever since voting opened up. i figure in the last 24 hours enough votes should have come in for some of the videos to jump around.

anyways point is, i think the contest page might not be showing the videos in the correct order...has anyone else noticed this?

you cant see the ratings until the top 3 are announced. when you go to view contestants then click sort by ratings it just reverse order of the order that the videos where uploaded. nobody will know until the top 3.

I'm to understand that as contributors to the contest we are barred from ranking individual videos, but I believe the theory that rankings wont be displayed til the end may be correct. its hard to tell sometimes NS has interesting gears turning to make shit work; but it usually comes out right in the end.

it would be nice to have like a view count or something though... im sure urs has a lot Totally Badger;)

I think my personal vote for top three webisodes would be, Bury the hatchet, totally trevor, and chedda! They all make me laugh, and they all get me stoked.

i think it does, they have to have time to tally the top three, have judges decide the #1, chose a winner, then contact the winner and get everything straightened out before IF3 this weekend
