NSTV Pilot Project

Hey Newschoolers!

We just wanted to remind all of the new and up-and-coming webisode producers out there that the deadline for entries in the NSTV Pilot Project contest is this Monday (September 5th) at 9pm PST/Midnight EST.

For those of you who missed it, click here to check out all of the details (https://www.newschoolers.com/ns/cult/contest/id/5234/cid/15/), but in a nutshell, we're looking to become the presenting sponsor of a new or up-and-coming webisode series, and are offering a $1,200 contract to whoever ends up winning.

Once the deadline for entries has passed, you, the kick-ass Newschoolers community, will have one week (from Tuesday, September 6th - Monday, September 12th at 9pm PST/Midnight EST) to vote for your favorites, and then the Newschoolers staff will pick the winner and announce it at the IF3 Palms Awards on Saturday, September 17th during the Nike 6.0 International Freeski Film Festival.

So if you're a webisode producer looking for a sweet hook-up, if you haven't already...get on it!

the uploader won't take an mp4? What will it prefer? I know people have also had issues with .mov files...

yea I tried to upload a .mp4 but then just gave up. I probably wouldn't have time to do 6 episodes next year anyways

i'm starting to get really worried that i won't be able to get my entry online. i worked really hard on it and am really excited to enter this contest but it won't let me upload an .mov file.

i've tried 3 different internet browsers and 2 different internet connections....what's the deal??? any suggestions!?!?

it must be the contest page or that new video player that's causing the trouble

I just uploaded my entry to the video section (as private) no problem. so it's clearly the contest page that isn't allowing some of us to get our entries in. Maybe the due date could be extended while the problem is fixed??

Alright, there's a problem here. aKrieg has spent hours trying to upload the webisode to the NS contest page, and it isn't working. There need to be changes made to either whatever facilitates the uploading, or embeds should be allowed. It's completely unreasonable for our webisode to not have a chance of being in the contest just because our video didn't upload, after we spent hours and hours working on it. And I know that Abe's isn't the only one that's having trouble with this process. It's unfair for all of the other crews who worked hard on their webisodes.

Please recognize where we're coming from (admins), and contact aKrieg, he's PMed a couple of you to no avail. The clock is ticking, and this is a really important contest. We appreciate any assistance you can provide.

yeah, embedded entries should be allowed or the due date extended. It's common knowledge amongst the members that the video uploader is subpar compared to most and this is acknowledged by the admins of NS.

It is a new uploader for the contest. It is called the advanced uploader, it has a progress bar and tells you how much time is left. The actually uploading is far better than the old one, the issue is that something just does not work.

I then retract my last statement partially. I was not aware of this because I'm not actually participating in the contest, but I thought I would contribute my two cents. But eitherway, that doesn't change the fact that either embedded entires need to be allowed or the due date extended until whatever the problem is is fixed. mine says "unsupported video format" as well, kinda bummed i worked on this all morning. hopefully we can just embed them before the deadline, i'd like to enter

i've successfully loaded my entry to facebook, vimeo, and in the NS video section but CANNOT get it on the contest page...

I'm sorry guys, this was a huge oversight on our part. The uploader is halfway upgraded between two systems, and clearly broken.

We will extend the deadline, fix it, and if that doesn't work allow embeds.

Sorry for this - the last thing we want is for you guys to not get your hard work in!

is there any chance I could replace my entry video? I made a webcam explanation for why I was unable to enter my actual webisode, but that no longer looks like it was needed.

I've extended the deadline by 2 days to try and accommodate the problems people have been having.

Anyone who is having an issue uploading please email me directly at chris.mc@newschoolers.com and tell me what errors you are having so we can get things sorted.

Sorry guys! We'll get this working. There's some awesome entries already.

Anybody who gets the "Unsuported Format" message, please post the full message you get when the upload fails.  It would be very helpful to know what format the server is reporting in the error message.

The only one's competing in my opinion at the moment are aKrieg's, The Main Idea, Westward, twenty2's (yours was fucking hilarious), and Recreational Season.
