Locked out of Facebook Account

Tried to log in today and was greeted by:

Seemed super dodgey to me the whole asking for passport of drivers license number. I have no idea why I've been locked out of my account, it wasn't hacked as far as I know, I'm usually pretty careful with security.

Has this happened to anyone? Is there way way to get your facebook back without having to upload photo ID?



*Facebook is needed as a networking tool with a few of my sponsors and international friends. So it is not a simple case of "This is why facebook is shit and you should delete it." It is needed.

No, they're telling you to cover that part up.

You could have easily uploaded a photo and gotten it over with in the time it took you to make this thread.

i don't see what the problem is really, it says to cover up the important stuff, who cares if you have to upload your picture, not like FB doesn't have a shit load of info on you anyway.

Yeah I got that aswell but it said that the laptop wasn't recognized as a credible way to access my account or something. So I logged in on my iPod and it worked fine again

The reason I made this thread is because I don't want to send a copy of my ID. I don't trust it as safe to send it even with the numbers crossed out it still has a lot of my details and things on it as official ID.

That's why I'm trying to find another way to fix it.

seriously though dude, fuck facebook. It's getting way to old with fake advertisments and people hacking other peoples accounts, im not supprised it's come to this. Don't give it to them though, write an email or wait it out.

Well, it looks like the url is secured (https:). Check out the source code of the page to see if there's anything iffy there, or hidden URLs.

If that's just a real FB procedure now, then fuck me.

The problem is that they are NOT Facebook. No legit website would ever ask for a ridiculous request like this.

YEah this happened when I logged into facebook in NZ. Stupid shit was they just picked random people, and random pictures of them. I barely passed proving I was me. Fucking facebook.



But Brooke, don't do it. Sounds sketchy as fuck. Make sure it's the legit facebook, and email them and wait to hear back. This sounds like it could go so wrong. I've never heard of this before but I would want to make damn sure they don't steal your ID. It would be horrible to find out people are traveling around with your passport and id, racking up debt, making killing some people.

Hopefully it all get's sorted out quickly

You probably have a dynamic IP address (meaning that your IP address resets occasionally). Due to your IP changing, you attempted to log in with an IP that was never used to access your account before, resulting in the automated "security" feature ("security" in quotes because it doesn't add much to security, it only creates problems like this; actual security is having a strong password and not being an idiot). It is legitimately Facebook, not a scam, but it is not something they should require of you. You could try logging in a few more times, try logging in from other IP addresses, etc. But chances are high that you'll have to either provide the photo or create a new account.
