so im moving in to CU next week on thursday, but one of the things that they are making all incoming freshmen do at CU is take an online alcohol class. the class take 2.5-3 hrs!!!! im fucking pissed off! im about half way through right now and so far this thing has been nothing more than an annoying review of all the crap i had to learn in health class and in my alcohol class from when i got my underage consumption ticket. anyway... are any other kids on here going to different schools that are making them do this also? share in my pain.

^ agreed... I'm 18, and I recently went to England, where the drinking age is 18. It was very strange because beer is just a drink there- plenty of people get drunk, but they don't treat a can of beer like a bomb waiting to go off. Just ordering a beer in a restaurant there is so different from the bullshit I have to go through in this country to get one. When you think about it, the age 21 thing doesn't even make sense...

i hate that damn drinking age here it's so fucking stupid. but on the contrary, a lot of people are killed by drunk drivers, and a lot of them are underage. on the contrary of that, obviously this drinking age isn't working, so why not lower it and make everyone happy?

the problem with having the drinking age so high, and so strictly enforced, means that it makes it more of a forbidden fruit for us 'minors'...Now, having grown up in France, and recently moved to the United States, i was shocked when i went to pick up a bag that contained alcohol that my mom had purchased, and told not to carry it by the shopkeeper...now, this is an exaggerated example, but when i lived in France, i could have walked down to the corner shopping store, and bought a bottle of vodka, or other hard-a or beer, and said it was for my mom, and could have gotten away problem-free with a bottle of booze...
However, the problem in the US, is that the driving age is also quite low, which means that even if there wasnt a drinking age, a 16 year old, drunk (you can imagine how much judgement this person would have) would hop into his car and go get into an accident...whereas in France, that same 16 yr old would have taken a taxi or metro home...or even walked, as everything is not as nearly as seperated as it is in the US...


now, im tired of typing, so i hope some of that made at leas tsome sense...

good points. I still get drunk though. And as drunk as I've been, not once have I ever driven, ever. But I usually give my keys to someone before I start drinking, or I hide them, just in case. It's just so damn stupid to drink and drive. I still like america though. I have never gotten an underage drinking ticket or whatever it is and I drink probably more then anyone on this site. Go ahead and call me an alcoholic but at least I'm a responsible one.

you know that this class will only stop like 5 kids... total. then 2 weeks into college they will have been around alcohol in some way shape or form and then they will start to drink again. so whats the point?

Hahahaha we didn't have to do any alcohol class when I entered CU last year. Sucks for you but CU is great. The first few weeks of school the partys are nuts. I got my house.

We didn't have a class for my school, but this is pretty ridiculous:

I'm from CT, and the law is clearly different there than in Delaware, which is where I am going to school, and it surprised me when I found out in Delaware, you can't even go INTO a liquor store without getting a fine. You can't even go ask for directions or shit like that. What a fucking pussy state.

We'll have you dead pretty soon.

^^no strode that the thing, they will know if i dont take it. its online and once its completed, the site will send my name to CU so they know i took it. in the letter i got in the mail where they told me i had to take it, they said that if i didnt complete it by sept. 1st that my spring semester admission would be denied! so im just going to bare through it and suck it up, but it still sucks.

i didnt know you could get underage consumption tickets, but im damn lucky cause earlier this summer i was shitfaced and stumbling down this road near my friends house trying to hitchhike to get back to his house, a cop ended up picking me up and dropping me off right near my house where my parents couldnt see, wow that cop was the man
