Which skis to get?

I need some opinions on which skis are best. i have a pair of rossi scratch ghettos and volkl walls. love them both, but i want to get rid of the scratchs to buy some fatter skis. i've been searching and have found numerous options that all seem great, so i'm asking people on here which ones they love. i'm not listing any in particular but just want some suggestions. I'm looking for something with a waist width between 100 and 115. also if anyone has some line sir francis bacons let me know how those are

Gear talk is the forum for this kind of stuff, but if you're looking at sfb's I can only say good things as several friends have them and seem to love then

2nd off you gotta narrow your stuff down from the description you just gave there are over a hundred skis in that range...

Do you want something similar to the SFB?  They are pretty soft just a heads up not similar to your VOLKL's at all.......

I'm not even totally sure what to narrow it down to thats why i asked for peoples favorites. but if i had to, sfb's, 4frnt crj and turbo, volkl gotama, moment belafonte, icelantic nomad.

I would look at something 108-113 waist with camber and rocker.  That narrows down yoru search more and should eliminate some of your searching.

What kind of terrain do you ride?  What length of ski are you looking for?  Does it need to be a full twin?  Do you plan on touring on it?  Where do you ride?  This sounds to be more of a powder ski for you?

You can't just expect us give you the exact ski without giving some feedback first.


As stated before the stiffness factor is really going to be important I think...

Last years bacons were without a doubt the best ski I had ever ridden....then I got the opus....and that's even better....it's all I'll be riding this season....on everything....gives me that feeling I had the first time I skied lizzies....like wow this changes everything.

Apologies for the lack of detail. I ride mostly back country, trees, bowls, rarely ride the groomers. I'm looking for about a 185 or so. Twin tip yes. And yes to rocker

Liberty Helix 187.  105 underfoot.  New stealth rocker.  You can take it out any day of the year and have a lot of fun.
