Netbook Halp

I usually don't do this, but I'm looking to get a small laptop/netbook for school so I can do HW online between classes and have something portable that can move on my commute/ between classes. I have a desktop at home so I dont need something powerful because i'll be doing anything really intensive on that. Space to store photos on it is a plus, so I can dump pictures to it if I'm out shooting in the field. Enough RAM and processor speed to watch online videos and handle flash (for my homework online :\) also a bonus.

Stuff I'd like to have:

Larger HDD for music and pictures, plus space to dual/triple boot
Ability to handle online videos/flash player
USB drives
Lightweight

Ok so a i3 or lower would probably do just fine.
I'd probably go w/ 4 ram you could get away with lower.
And maybe 250-500 of storage how much do you think you will need?

250 sounds like enough, the one I just posted has 320 which sounds fine

IMO. What you described that netbook sounds like it's enough.

You won't need a dedicated graphics chip if all you're going to be doing is HW with flash and watching the occasional video. It has enough RAM to be fast enough without being a major problem.

The only worry I may have is that it doesn't have a duel core CPU. Maybe up your budget to get one with a duel core?

probably out of my price range :\ looking at netbooks because they are wicked cheap. don't really need a super powerful laptop or need to spend above $500

I think there's smaller laptops you can get that are way better than netbooks? you going to college? a 13 inch laptop is super easy to carry around, theres smaller ones too. my dad's office just got him a tiny lenovo one with an i5 in it.

i3 is a dual core. its just capable of hyperthreading.

check out macbook air. so fast

I run a similar set-up. I have my desktop for serious stuff and a netbook for school/travel etc.

I bought a cheap acer aspire for $200 and put a ssd and 2GBs of ram in and it works awesome for hw, programming, and youtube stuff.

The ssd keeps it light and durable (and fast)
The memory was like $10 so whatevs
I think every netbook comes with at least 3 usb ports now if you need more just get a splitter.
