The for sure go for the FKS 140 or if you want Markers than go with the Jester (16 DIN binding, goes down to 6 so you'll be right in the middle). You could also consider the STH 14 driver or 16 as well. But for sure, stay away from the griffon at your size/DIN setting, you're awfully close to maxing out the springs on a 12 DIN binding.
You want something where you'll be more in the middle of the DIN setting instead of being at the high end. So a 14, 15, or 16 DIN is really what you're looking for. The reason is, being to close to the extreme high or extreme low end of the DIN binding isn't good for the springs (the low end will end up backing out cause there's not enough tension, too close to the high end weakens the springs which will lead to pre-releases and other issues). If you really don't like the STHs then go with either the FKS 140 (or 155 if you can find them in the BST...more metal, better binding all around) or the Marker Jester. Both can go down low enough to prevent back-outs (FKS goes down to 5, Jester down to 6) and still have some above 10 so you don't max out.
I agree with what flashkick says. A Din 14-16 will be the best for you. If you get chance definatly try out the jesters before buying. I had the jesters before I got my current STH 16, and when I first got the jesters I loved them, but once I tried the STH 16 I would not use jesters again. Having the adjustable toe piece on the STH makes for such a good boot hold. I always now get annoyed by the slightest movement I get in the toe from the jester. But overall both binding hold well and you will not go wrong with either. FKS are good but the lack of spare parts make them a no for me.
huh...interesting, not exactly sure what the point of that was unless they decided to have more spacing in between the squire and the griffon. I still think 13 is too low for him.
I dunno....if he's runnin a 10 din the 13 should be fine.....my local shop said they've only had one griffon failure since they started carrying them....and that was an admitted "extensive rail abuse" failure.....honestly though if he can afford it I'd say jester/pro and run a din of 11-12....at his weight being aggressive I'd be runnin at least an 11 din
any of you have the chance to compare the griffon or FKS? trying to get an idea of whether the wider mounting platform of the griffons will have any impact on my S7's...
