Ha,i think this thread title will garner some attention.

I AM IN NO WAY SAYING TRIPLES ARE A GOOD THING. I HATE THEM ACTUALLY.

but, i feel like since triples have come into play, style and creativity have become more important than ever because to me it seems as if people see triples, dont like how its turning into aerials, and try shifties, butters, anything thats different. anyone else think this, or is it just a coincidence that they came into play at the same time?

I'm not sure that triples are what pushed me to enjoy the style side of the sport, but I do know that style has gotten more popularized quickly recently. Shit, I hardly even like most dubs anymore.

Do I give a fuck about 3 phils? no, not even a single fuck. They could have pioneered style as we know it today, they could have done the first pretzel I couldn't care any less. I bet these three phils didn't give a fuck about the people before them who invented the way people were skiing at that time. Hell, thats probably why they changed it.

whoa there dude -- The Three Phils were the shit, and they were building directly off of the New Canadian Air Force, who gave respect to snowboarders for tricks & to skiing's other roots for their skills (moguls, racing, extreme skiing, ect.).

.... I highly doubt they "didn't give a fuck about the people before them", just like pros now look back and give props to the people before them.

I was just trying to illustrate how style evolves, im only talking skiing here. Think about how park skiing even came to be. People were tired of mogul, aerials, racing competitions ect and restrictions so they said fuck it and did their own thing with minimal regard for their predecessors.

I'm only talking skiing, too, in case that was unclear...

Newschool skiing got started because people were tired of the ruling bodies in the sport - FIS, judges, ect. so they started to do their own thing. It wasn't an act against their predecessors, but against the institutions of the day.

I just think it's important to have knowledge of skiing's history before you start saying 'fuck it'.
