On almost any recent pair of k2 or line skis, its VERY common to see versions where the bases are reversed. Go to any shop and pick up a couple pairs of hellbents and check out the bases and you'll see what I'm talking about. With line, some of their pro's skis/prototypes have bases where the colors are actually negative. if you look at some of the shots where Pollards riding 09/010 bacons, the places where the production bases were red, were the exact opposite shade of green (sort of an army green), while the whites are still white. Also, half of the 09/010 chronics had white bases with black scratches and the other half had black bases with white scratches. Just look closely, its a real common trend with those companies.

the reason is because they can reuse the cut outs from one color on the other ski. it saves a shit ton of material.
