Alta and LCC This Season

Im headed to SLC in about a month and am gonna be riding Alta and everything access LCC. Wanted to check on here to see if anyone was into touring and building booters up there because I finally have the opportunity to get in the UT bc this season.
Also still trying to figure out housing, and its looking like Cottonwood Heights seems most convenient. I've been looking on craigslist and ksl, but wanted to check on here to see if anyone that skied up there had an open place or at least any recommendations on where to rent from. It'd be ideal to get set up with people that are down to go hike for stuff up there. Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

If you're legitmately into backcountry touring it is easy to meet people in LCC, a lot of people tour up there, most of them are extremely chill but also in their 30's+. Cottonwood Heights is real close and should be real easy for you to take the bus up to Alta to either shred the resort or start hiking from the Albion basin.

yeah thats what i figured. im more likely planning on building and hitting kickers than just touring though and im not sure how much of the older crowd are really still sending it but idk.
any recommendations on places to rent? i saw some places like foothill apartments had openings. i just finished college and dont want to end up staying with some randoms off craigslist.

TGR has a pretty big Utah backcountry community, fwiw. Some are really cool and will tell you everything you'd ever wanna know, others are angry asshats. As far as living, Cottonwood Heights or Sandy are going to be your most convenient options.

For the bc booters it can be more difficult to find people. That's not my thing so I can't offer much advice for that. Other than whenever I'm going from Alta up into Grizzly I can see jumps all over.

Foothill is fine if you have a car. It's just farther away and I don't know if a bus will take you down to the park and ride from that area or not.

Personally imo all the wasangles tgr ccats is cool, but if you show up over there with a teenybopper

There's usually a couple threads in here during fall season that are titled "looking for a roommate in c-heights". I recommend checking those out.

As far as backcountry. Have you done much touring before? Most people don't like having the responsibility of taking someone out for the first time and worrying if they know how to use their beacon. A lot of dumb people in the backcountry get away with most of the stuff they do in Utah. However, it's definitely going to become more of a problem as more and more people move here and decide to get into the backcountry with little experience.

There are definitely a ton of knowledgable people around here and the terrain is amazing. If you ever are planning on touring shoot me a pm and I'll go out with ya.

yeah man i spent a season in switzerland, but last winter i was stuck skiing the east for college. just got finished so im coming back to utah because i always liked riding here.
as far as apartments, distance isnt really an issue because im getting a car soon. i was even thinking about living up at park city because ive heard good things, but thats not convenient for alta.

im gonna be getting avy gear no doubt, and i dont really dig tgr most of those goons are pissed. i just dont want to rely on craigslist for roommates also a bunch of clowns on there. what is chadbourne bengal b? you guys know anybody looking for a roommate?

and mitchpee im gonna hit you up for sure. i know only a few friends still out in slc and am definitely down to ride with new people.

yeah it would be dope to get a spot in PC, but im really gonna be skiing alta. any good condo places or apartments in cottonwood heights or sandy? or places that work out well for skiers?

Just go up there and you'll meet people. For jumps it's different, but there are always 10 plus jumps built in Grizzly that you can hit the day after whoever built them hit them. Just don't snake a perfect jump on a bluebird day if it hasn't been hit yet.

just start skinning around and you'll find people. A lot of kids from the Peruvian do some touring and build jumps I think, so maybe try to live there and have the full alta experience.
