GoPro 960?

I'm looking to get a GoPro to mount to my shotgun for duck/goose hunting but i've noticed that the 960 version is considerably cheaper than the 1080 one. Does the 960 version have a much lower quality? I'm just looking to make some hunting edits for fun.

get it, I don't ever film at 1080 anyway. only flaw is that the attachable screen doesn't work on the 960's.

This. I bought the 960 and couldn't be happier. All my friends with the 1080 film in 960 anyway. I wouldn't use the LCD screen or the battery pack, so it wasn't worth the extra $80 to me.

960 would probably be better for your application anyway because it has a taller image than 1080 does

no, it does not shoot in 720p 60fps, only 30fps.

960 is way cheaper but it does not shoot in 60 frmaes per second at 720 hd like the 1080 does. Also the lcd accesory is not compatible with it.

I have always said this and will continue too and that is that the GoPro HD is just a better buy. It is worth the extra 60 dollars or whatever it is IMO. 720p 60fps plus 1080p

plus the format of 960 video gives you nice black bars on widescreen moniters, which most people have.

For the sake of making fun videos with yours friends just to document a good day, get the 960.

For the sake of making sort-of serious POV videos of your friends, get the 1080.

I feel as if having 60fps would be very beneficial for hunting videos. Especially for archery.

1080 purchased, thanks for the info guys. Ended up getting my buddy to hook me up at Futureshop for $206 cdn

that's what I use because it gets more in the shot, higher fps is nice for sharper images and slow motion, but I'd rather have the most image to work with. Yes, it is a different aspect ratio so depending on the rest of your media and your delivery platform you may need to crop or distort to get everything to fit.
