Time lapse problems

I just started fucking around with time lapses yesterday. I tried a few shots, and generaly did good, despite having only like 10 minutes to find a shot, frame and expose. (Im always last second)

problem is, as you will see... There is a constant jitter in my shots. Once in a while my shot is shaky and moves, creating these jitters. Im wondering if my tripod is sturdy enough. Could it be the wind? I dont ever touch the tripod, cam or anything during a shot. its hooked up to the computer for the intervalometer.

oh and sorry for the shit editing. I just put everything together, cut and added some music to make it less boring to watch

gonna assume thats because you are using an unstable tripod

i've noticed that some of my time lapse shots where i have accidentally bumped the tripod look exactly the same as yours did. but with yours, it seems to be shaking a lot more. i think you would notice if your tripod kept moving like that. i would just say try it again but hold on to the tripod to keep it steady, then see if it happens again

i've been shooting a lot of timelapses lately and although i havent shot much near a lake or water i haven't encountered this problem. the only thing i can guess is that maybe you have a really shitty tripod? i have an ipod i got off ebay but its about 10 lbs and bulky as shit. that with my 6lb camera don't move at all. only suggestion i can say based off this is get a bulkier tripod.

What kind of surfaces were you planting your tripod on? Rocks? Pebbles, etc?

That could have a lot to do with it

If your lens has Auto Stabilization, try turning it off.

Shi good answer this sounds like it could be my problem. Maybe its reacting to to wind. My tripod is sturdy enough, i have a manfrotto, so i guess this could have something to do with it. Thanks guys

yeah it definitely is because I noticed that it only got jitters in shots where there was wind. That was why your first shot was so good. no wind.

you could also hang some weights from your tripod for good measure. like a gallon milk jug full of water or something

I had the same problem until I factored in the wind. You can tie sandbags or like ^ said milk jugs to keep it from shaking. Didn't even think about the IS on lenses. I'm going to turn mine off from now on as well.
