Sooo my sister ran over my old bogen with her car and its kinda fucked up so i need to invest in a new tripod. I'm a total noob in the tripod world besides knowing the decent companies, looking for a fair priced really good tripod. Hit me up with some names/models and ill take a look, thanks guys.
Im going to go ahead and recommend and Manfrotto 501hdv head with any legs that are in your budget really. I love my 501 head. its super smooth and works great in the cold too. sure it might not last you 20 years but it will definitely last you a long time.
I know a lot of people dont like manfrotto and think that its junk but they can hate all they want.
I would also check out the Vinten Vision Blue. It is a bit lower in price than the FSB4, but I've been seeing some serious reviews about it giving the Sachtler some competition. I personally am leaning towards the Vinten, but have yet to pull the trigger. Landis, do you have any experience / knowledge about the Vision Blue vs. Sachtler in general?
I have also heard good things about the Vision Blue. However, I have never personally used one, and from my experience the general consensus seems to be that Sachtler makes the best heads under $2k. I am not familiar with the design of the Vision Blue; to be honest it reminds me of Manfrotto's heads appearance wise. Sachtler's FSB series is just an amazing design in my opinion. I wouldn't consider the Vision Blue to be a budget alternative since its in the same price range as the FSB4.
yeah, I agree with sachtler making the best heads under 2k. The design, like landis said, is definitely top notch (coming from someone who owns a knock-off, hehe).
