if i remember, 4bi9 was on edge about using the song, but for god sake 4bi9 does stand for 40's blunts ice and nines so it seems a bit appropriate dont you guys think...

did you guys really expect 4bi9 to have some hipster BS for their trailer?

Big props to 4bi9 for being a crew who always sticks together, pushes each other, and has lots of fun skiing every day. keep doing what you do! I loved the trailer, I'm buying the movie.

i fully understand the dedication a ski film like this comes from but it just didn't do much for me, it didn't give me the kinds of chills like pbp or level 1 did. And who the fuck said i have to like every single fucking ski movie trailer out there.

skiing was insanely good as always. As for the editing, I think that AJ is just on a whole other level, which is almost too much for me personally. Last year when I got gunni season, the first time watching it i couldn't even keep up with what was happening. Whenever my buddies and I would watch Gunni season we'd play it at 80% video and audio and the movie is so much better (try this if you haven't) His editing is super good for trailers like this but when it's a whole movie it really is just mentally exhausting and it's hard to focus on how sick the skiing is. I'm not hating, i just think that he's too good at editing for my brain to keep up.

As for the song, it's growing on me, but i think it could do without the first part of it.

last year i bought gunnie season and told to myself after watching it "i won't buy any other 4bi9 movie after this crap"...but lemme say that this trailer got me super stoked, some gnarly shit went down there. So I wanna buy it now, fuck!!

You're right, now that I've watched it again there really isn;t any of that nonsense. I guess I just assume now. That said, I'm sure you know where I'm coming from on the majority of other skiing content.

It's crazy what can be done with good editing.
If the trailer had been editing with a Blondie song, you definitely wouldn't have made that comment.

A single song choice doesn't accurately reflect the lifestyle of an entire group of people.

I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I enjoy seeing the differing points of view, but there are some comments that I feel should be refuted.

Hey Alex! Thanks... But truth is our hard drives somehow were cut in half so we only have the first part of everything. We are currently working on some magical mending spells in order to revive the full shots for everyone to appreciate in the final movie. Definitely was in no way, shape, or form trying to hold off from showing everything in order to provide incentive to purchase the movie.

pause the shots and take in what is actually happening... i feel you kids really don't comprehend what you're watching. also check out the front page write up for pictures of some of those features. tell me that isn't as or more fucked up than a lot of what you've seen so far as urban?

also if you haven't noticed, the banger tricks are not put in some trailers, including 4bi9's. if that last rail doesn't get you stoked then you don't know shit about skiing and should quit. just saying.

just like every other thread. this turned into a giant shiitstorm where everyone has to get the last word. i don't think showing appreciation towards a film companies' soon to be release is constantly bitching about what you have no control over, nor should have control over. They are contributing a lot more to the community than constant destructive criticism.

Only negative thing I have to say, is the hype man in that song kills it for me. Otherwise, I'm far too stoked for my own good. 4bi9 and Stept earn every bit of the money I am throwing their way. Those cats work so hard, I mean... My friends and I put in alot of work at much less insane spots. These guys are the inspiration behind every urban sesh for sure.

I do have to agree with this, I loved all the shots in Gunnie Season but I felt like the editing make it hard to watch. It makes the trailers amazing though.

Trailer was tight, movie will be crack.

I was sorta surprised by the song, but it brought a big smile to my face because it reminded me of Look it Up, and the 4bi9 that first got my attention. Looking all the way back to Slamina, it was obvious they were "growing" up (I guess they really means AJ and maybe Nape?) with using a variety of music and taking on a more artistic direction, and just putting more thought into the finished product than just the skiing itself. I liked that, for sure. I also like that this is sort of like a "awww....fuck it". Plus, I felt like the song fit the raw energy and the aggression of the skiing.

But, I can definitely see how some people who aren't really into hip-hop wouldn't dig it, but hey you can't please everyone. For me? Well.....Killa Cam is always a good idea.

P.S. still waiting for a Cam Riley segment set to the song Killa Cam....

Stoked on this flick, can't wait to see it. Good job fellas!

maybe you met a different group of people than i did, but i've known some of the guys for several years now, and tom, steve, AJ, tim, KZA, rich, and trevor have been nothing but awesome to me whenever i've had the chance to hang out with them. not sure how they came off as pretty bitchy kids, because the reality of it is they're just stoked to be skiing with their friends and having a good time.

props on the trailer guys, it looks sick, and i'll definitely be ordering the movie.

Right when the intro started I knew everyone was going to give them a ton of shit for the song but I honestly thought the song choice was very good. I also thought that was the second best trailer after Weight.

I'm not sure why everyone's so disappointed. I thought that was perfect.

The tremendous effort yall put into the last season clearly shows! Absolutely top-notch riding and shooting!
How did Tim survive the whole season? Some serious, 'you fall, you die' shit from him.
Backcountry stuff looks great too.

I have two criticisms though. First, the song intro was out of place. I understand that the voice over was part of the track, but it could have been cut/edited out. That said, the song itself fit. The energy of the track came close to matching that of the riding!
Second, just because you are an editing magician doesn't mean you need to drop all your spells in one 3 min trailer. I've watched this 5 times now, and I am truly blow away by the talent behind the editing but i think its a bit distracting. Just like a prodigious writer, a talented young editor must remember that simplicity sometimes bests spectacle.

All in all, kick ass stuff 4bi9. I'll be ordering 'Begging for Change'
