Windham by far has some of the sketchiest jumps. On the contrary Ive also had a few days there where they had a few nice jumps built. Most of there bigger rails are setup sketchy as fuck also. The Jib park is fun to lap when they have a nice rail setup.
honestly, out of all of the catskill mountains i have the most fun at belleayre and plattekill... yeah they're parks aren't as good but they're other terrain is up to par with hunter and much better than windham. you also dont have to deal with the mass crowds that hunter and windham get. between hunter and windham though, hunter is much better. better park and windham is flat
This is so absolutely not true. There is not a single run at Belleayre that cannot be easily straightlined. Try doing that on any of the Hunter West runs and you will die. Belleayre has very very short steep runs that connect to much longer very easy runs. You spend an incredible amount of time on the lift to access a very little amount of terrain. Belleayre has never had a clue how to make a park or a pipe. If you want terrain + park, the choice is easy. Hunter wins, and Belleayre isn't even a contender.
i just scored two free lift tickets to windham...I've never been before and I am wondering when the best time to go is? aka when they are fully open and have most of their features set up
All is true, yet Id still rather ski Belleayre than Hunter. Id much rather ski steep, short runs than ice followed by ice on ice AKA Hunter. I went to Hunter last Feb and paid
~$55 and I will never go back again.
Yes, theyre park isnt great at Belleayre and I wish they put more time into it, but idk what "terrain" you are talking about at Hunter... Windham > Hunter, Belleayre > Hunter , imo of course.
btw, "incredible amount of time"? You ever been on the main lift at Windham?? Feels like it never ends...Lift 7 at Belleayre is slow, but the quad really isnt that bad.
If you are going JUST for the park, go to Hunter. All that for $55....Oh wait, just checked the site, its now $68 for age 19+!!! What a good deal.
Windham just took delivery of a new park cat, has a new GM, and a very dedicated park crew. Yes I'm biased but I'm also not a park rat. January is usually the best time to go for conditions and terrain.
Yes the main lift (A) gets insane on weekdays or holidays but if your smart you can avoid it once you get up the mountain. Lapping B lift on warm soft day or with some fresh is where it's at.
