I live in lower NY and didn't feel shit. People are freaking out and make big claims. Chill the fuck out and stop being so selfish. I hope the earthquake didn't do any damage

I was 2 when was in an earthquake over 5.9, bud, so I'm not sure what experience we're talking about. I dont remember it quite that well lol.

Not true. You do know there are many earthquakes every day that are < 2? That brings down the average quite a bit.

Actually 5.9 is pretty damn good if it's shallow.

There was a 4.8 right by my school a few years ago that took out all the shelves in the library and caused some cracking to a lot of homes and so forth.

For an area where it isn't really built for earthquakes, 5.9 is pretty huge and could cause structural damage.

I'm in DC now. People evacuated a lot of buildings and some had falling masonry but nothing to bad. the main problems have just been that it's really fucked up public transport and the gridlock is crazy. cell phone service is also patchy. for the most part not that bad, just annoying.

I live in upstate NY, and my office definitely shook. I was kind of confused why my computer screen was shaking, and then all of a sudden the whole building was moving. Pretty funny/dramatic moment since no one had a clue what was going on. I've never felt the earth move beneath me so it was scary at first. The mood lightened after we realized we weren't in any danger.

i was in dulles airport, outside DC, and it was surprisingly calm considering how it could've been. i was grabbing lunch, and no one really moved or did anything because everyone was just confused about what was happening. i thought some bad shit was going down at first, cause I had never been in an earthquake before, but then it ended and a guy from california told us it was an earthquake. so crazy. i never wanna be in an earthquake again. that was pretty sketchy

this is something i don't understand. i mean, we all live in the same country. so why do you have to try and make your fellow americans feel less significant? what's the point - are you trying to show you're better than them? it just doesn't make sense to me that you'd put yourself on a pedestal for no reason other than you geographical location. pretty stupid if you ask me.
