I am in agonizing pain right now guys and I need some advice. Kind of embarrassing but here we go.. I am suppose to be meeting this girl tonight at a party and I'm 90% sure she wants to hook up.  Due to my foreshadowing of said event I decided it would be a good idea to trim my pubes.  At first I was just going to take a razor to it but ultimately decided it would be more efficient to trim with some scissors first to make it easier with the razor.  So i broke out a nice pair of scissors and started to go at it over the toilet. I was pulling my hair tight with my other hand in order to increase the amount of hair being snipped off with each slice.  I have done this before with no problem so I thought I had it down and was being pretty lax about the whole situation. I was getting the hair near my shaft when suddenly I was hit with a sharp pain.  I didnt notice that I had pulled up some skin next to my shaft.. I took a nice chunk of skin right off and blood instantly started to pour out.  I couldnt tell you the last time i shed a tear until now.. It hurt like a bitch. At first I put pressure on it with a facecloth but that did not help. Right now I have an ace bandage wrapped around said area but I can see blood seeping through at the moment.  I'm not sure whether or not to inform my parents because based on my observations this injury could need stitches. I wasn't using dull scissors boys and girls, I was using some pretty heavy duty CutCo ones. They cut through my skin like a knife in butter. Right now it hurts to walk and I am soon going to text the girl telling her I have to bail for some other stupid reason.  So how should I handle this situation? Tell the parents or wait it out and  hope it closes up itself?

Sparknotes: I wasn't paying attention while trimming my pubes and I took off a nice chunk of skin near my shaft. Yes, I feel like an idiot.

i am cringing so hard right now after reading that.

honestly man you may want to hit the ER if it's that bad.... or you could always disinfect the area and bandage it up. the blood should start clotting soon but if it doesn't then that's a clear sign you probably need stitches.

you could also go see your family doctor, they could get you some simple glue stitches, i did that once when i sliced open my thumb.


good luck man....use a razor or a trimmer next time

if you dont get medical help and it gets infected you have an even bigger problem.

as far as the girl goes, tell her the truth. If she doesnt still like you after then she wasnt right for you in the long run.

Depending on how old they are, this is terrible advice.  He hasn't even hooked up with this girl yet.  "yeah, sorry I can't come to the party, I was trimming my pubes in case you and I hooked up, and accidentally cut part of my groin off."  Sounds real creepy how ya doin

I was going to use a trimmer but I couldnt find it and the only reason I was using scissors first was to make it easier with the razor.  To the other guy saying how old I am, I am old enough to realize it was a bad idea but it was the only option I had at the moment so fuck off.

yea I will probably tell her though, we are old enough to laugh about it. I did just meet her but I'm pretty open to her and she will most likely understand. Ill let it heal and hook up with her in the near future.

M.D. here

1. Disinfect the area with strong alcohol.
2. Get some super glue. But preferably medical grade glue. Because superglue may produce burns if the glue contacts a large enough area of tissue. Rapid curing may also lead to tissue necrosis.
3. Apply the glue to bridge over the closed edges of the laceration; it should not be used within the wound (on raw surfaces), where it will impair epithelization. Or just bond the remaining hairs together.
