i was basically testing out overcranking 60p to 24 and my new tokina 11-16. i know the colors are kinda off in places, but what i really want crit on is how to improve my edits in general (and dont suggest film burns lawl).

i mean, i dont know what to say, i just feel like it was to slow and repetitive. Im not sure what you were going for but i kinda got sleepy watching it. Im not big into skating so i may not be the best source. If i were you i would choose a song that had a little change in tempo or something. but this is just my opinion.

well you're not really overcranking. youre just shooting 60p.

and yeah..I don't know. it was slow and boring. not really how i like to watch skating

also implying that you're shooting faster than the camera was designed for. somehow hacking a camera with 60p mode to shoot 120p would be overcranking.

ANYWAYS now that thats cleared up :)

a little bit too much slow mo for the shots that you had, just mix it up a bit between slow and real time, and work on color correcting a bit and that should help

Well I'm pretty sure nobody's doing any "cranking" at all on their DSLR's. I always thought of undercrank/overcrank as just a general term for fast motion/slow motion. That's just me though.

yeah.

but on my HVX, when you shoot at 720p60:30p, that's called overcrank mode.

when it comes down to it though, true overcranking is cranking a film camera to expose more than 24 (or whatever frame rate you use) frames per second, then playing it back at 24, right? so technically i guess conforming is actually more like overcranking than doing it all in the camera

it looked really good, i would just say have a better shot selection. im not really a fan of crash shots in 2 minute edits, but if you are going to put them there, put them all together in one place, either at the beginning or end or whatever. it makes it hard to watch when it keeps switching in between them

The ride away to trick ratio wasn't good. Also, in the beginning you had like three shots from the same angle of the skater. I'd really try to switch them up. close up of his torn up shoes, half his face, the texture in his jeans. Anything that adds flavor and texture and doesn't just say "oh, there's a person".
