My thoughts on the Weight trailer

Hella stoked to see so much focus on Boston. Being an East Coaster myself I love when big companies come back to the east coast and show off what it has. Like last year, it looks like its going to contain so many of the stept guys going hard in the paint (see: tom warnicks leg injury blog post on stepts site) to get some wicked sick shots. Big mountain shots looked good too, and did my eyes deceive me or was some of that shot on good ol film? Hype for us filmmakers!

Thats so sick, the skiing is pretty self explanatory however I'm pretty stoked that a ski company is experimenting with anamorphic aspect ratios.

I wasnt expecting too much as I haven't really paid much attention to stept but holy shit now I will now that is definitely my favorite trailer so far I'm a HUGE fan of urban and this looks like what rocks my boat.

Loved it. Tons of creativity, excellent editing with a really high artistic value. It went beyond typical ski porn, while still containing the"money shots". Pun totally intended.

i'm sure the movie is gonna be sick but i didn't love the trailer. we get it, you filmed urban in low income neighborhoods. you saw a black guy. they didn't realize what was happening. get over it. the actual shots were bangers though, huge drop to concrete ledge 5050 was nuts

Really man? It was pretty sick getting some thoughts from kids who have never really seen what we do. It shed some light on the fact that they were skiing in a place where most people have never even seen skiing. How can you hate on that?

kids like you need to learn to appreciate the time, work and effort that goes into producing something like this. pretentious fucks like you are what really piss me off in a community of people that all have a passion and a love for what they do. you really just needed to find something to complain about, didnt you? none of that shit was scripted, it was real life.. shit was real as fuck.   props to STEPT for putting out one of the best trailers ever, and probably one of the most banger movies of the year.

The thing is, and I know for a fact, that originally they got some real pros like B-Dolgo to share their views on life and skiing for 'Weight', but after sixteen takes of "Skiing is at a point where it's....crazy" they turned to unsuspecting civilians for better results.

Filming great, editing great.

I loved it, my only gripe on it will probably seem weird to alot of people but man, when you nearly have the same graphics as Brainfarm....ouch.

I mean almost identical.  Small detail but I do graphics projects for stuff like this and it really bothers me to see the same look used, in the same industry from a 3D graphic standpoint.  I'm gonna guess C4D and the Explosion effector?  Nothing wrong with using a similar effect but I hate seeing the same style, color and angles, which are also nearly identical.  A tutorial from somewhere? 

Sorry minute detail, loved the trailer itself, just not a fan of cloning graphic work from another project.

Jesus man, RAGE RAGE RAGE FORM UP THE LYNCH MOB FOR THE NON-BELIEVER... knee-jerk reactions to anyone expressing negative commentary on something you back is not a cause to go all murderdeathkill on him. He's allowed to not like the trailer or the movie concept, that doesn't make him pretentious, it's just an opinion. A bit jaded, maybe.

Personally, I enjoyed the trailer, hope I get a chance to see the movie.

To be completely honest I didn't hear a thing that was said during the trailer because I know what kind of music they put in their edits and I don't like it.  I do like skiing though, and the dudes from stept are pretty rad at that.  On that note I don't like urban either but the shots from the trailer are insane and make me want to watch the movie, so good job pulling me in.
