This is the first year that I can say that I adore every single jacket that Saga has made. They're all sick.

Shutout. But The Take Over is the illest IMO

well, the 'on deck' is a 10k insulated jacket and the 'shutout' is a 5k softshell. that should be the actual deciding factor.

On deck imo. I'm really interested in the stripped, cloth cuffs and whatever the elastics called on the bottom. I was actually looking at them for myself earlier.

20k, 10k and 5k ect, are a rating of how water proof and breathable an item is. You dont need to know the tech details, but the higher the K the more waterproof and breathable an item is. Goretex for example is around 25K. Obviously breathability wont be a concearn for most here as you will stick a cotton tall tee under it proberbly but the weter proofing can be inportant.

Pretty much a 5k jacket will be good, for warmer dry days, you would not want to wear it in snow or especially rain, as you prob will get quite wet.

On Deck is sooooo sick. I'm ordering it tonight. 10k to 5k is a big difference. I definitely like the look of the Shutout but 5k can really only hold up in sunny days where you're just lapping the park. 10k can hold up in anything, I know gortex is like 25k or something but that is way more waterproofing/breathability than anyone needs. Go with the On Deck dude, Shutout is more of a winterized hoodie. Hope my opinion helped brotha.

10k definitely will not hold up to "anything", or even much precipitation at all. The Shutout should be considered a winterized hoodie as said above, keeps snow from getting you wet when you fall on nice days but you're screwed once even light snow starts falling.

My 2L saga only keeps my dry about 3 or 4 hours in wet PNW snow, and the 3L just starts getting water logged at the 6-7 hour mark. probs about half the time if it's raining (i've never stayed out that long in the rain)

but get the on deck if you need a "jacket", the shutout if you're looking for a riding specific hoodie.

thats just not true, i ski pnw and went heliskiing and my 20k jacket by 3/4 of the day was soaked whereas my friends 30k pants i was using were bone dry, unless your skiing somewhere without deep pow that your sitting/skiing in all day then it shouldnt matter, but even in places that have only a little powder waterproofing is EXTREMELY necessary

you could wear it for spring skiing, but prepare to roast if youre doing any hiking whatsoever. it's your standard insulated winter jacket.

I picked up all three Saga coats this year. They're all sick, but I LOVE the shutout on warmer spring days. Comfy, tech, and looks great.
