Help putting ringtones on a cell phone

I've got a data cable for my phone and ringtones saved on my computer but i can't figure out how to put them on my phone. Does anybody know how to do this?

i hate when your hanging out with some people and then one of their phone rings and its some gay rap song for a ring tone. i leave mine on a normal telephone ring or vibrate. ya people make fun of me because im not following the trend but im not going to be looking back at myself in 10 years saying 'why did i do that?'
