Brake width help

So i got some atomic freeride skis that came with the ffg bindings, but the brake width on the bindings seems too wide, i might be wrong though, was hoping i could get another opinion. - The skis are 100mm under foot, not sure where the width for brakes are measured, but from the corner to corner width across measures 140mm, and from the tips of the brakes (which would be in the snow) across measures 165mm.

I asked the shop where i got them from if these are too wide but they say that's the correct width.  Just standing in them i can easily get the brakes hooked together, as they don't seem to tuck in when they flick up.  Maybe i'm wrong, and it's just the due to the ski type - i have some park skis and the brakes on those tuck in nice and neat, i thought most bindings should kinda do this..?

Any help appreciated...

sounds a bit too wide indeed, the 115mm would be a lot better for you, try to swap it with someone, i'm sure there are a ton of kids who are looking for those wide ones...

Bring them into a local shop, they'll probably change them for free if you give them the wide brake.

Ok, so i managed to get a picture - are these brakes too wide and likely to cause any problems?

They barely tuck in much at all, just more flick up and stay the same distance out from the ski

It would certainly be a good idea to swap them out.  When brakes get that much wider than needed to can hang them up when carving or catch and break them pretty easily skiing switch, although you probably aren't going to be skiing switch too often on the Access.  As said above if a shop has a pair of 115mm or 100mm brakes they will most likely be happy to just swap them out for little to no charge if you trade them your 130mm brakes.

thanks for the advice. Just wanted to check before i go and swap them.  I'm in the UK so pretty limited on equipment (and ski knowledge in the shops) round here haha.  Either that, or laziness, as the guy looked at them and said they're fine etc
