You cant bounce the baseball, you cant throw the baseball from 6 feet away, you cant change planes, you dont have people standing infront of the batters box, HAHA you HAVE A BATTERS BOX.


You cant shoot when you have an open shot or an easy shot, its rare that happens. Most of the time you are in a full sprint, free your hands for less than one second and have to release a techinically sound shot to even get the full amount of power to put the ball on cage, not considering placement.

yea, but there are 11 people on each team, vs one (maybe 4) offensive player in baseball, so per person soccer is pretty easy

Hitting a pitch against someone like Justin Verlander is damn near impossible. I bet if any of you had 100 pitches to hit 1 ball past the pitcher you couldn't do it. Now I bet if you had 100 shots on goal of a pro soccer goalie I bet some people who play varsity soccer could score multiple times

Scoring a PK is one of the easiest things to do in sports, your example is completely fucking retarded. It would be like getting 100 pitches to hit one ball and letting wayne rooney shoot pks on you while your the goalie, or running back a kickoff against a professional special teams squad. Good luck. Baseball takes no athletic ability.

I''m not arguing that baseball takes more athletic ability. I'm saying that hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do in sports, which is what the debate has been about in this thread. Maybe you should read the thread first before you get your panties in a bunch

okay, first of all don't compare baseball to soccer, they are completely different types of sports... baseball takes a lot of skill, but soccer takes more pure athletic ability

also I think you're forgetting that the point of this thread was the hilarious video... although there may have been some intended trolling in there too

my vote is on football. look through the history of baseball, it has changed quite a bit from its beginnings. personally i find that football is more of Americas past time than baseball as of 2011... again, personally.

the greatest baseball players of all time fail 70% of the time. that should tell you how hard it is to hit a baseball.

If he is just throwing fastballs, i would bat around .500+

if he is actually pitching against me, i would bat around .050

Hitting the ball past the pitcher would be fairly easy, squaring his pitches up, and driving the ball would be hard.

no one seems to also mention the fact that baseball is the only sport not set in the primitive fashion of getting a ball/puck to the other side of the field/etc and scoring. football is a stupid sport, any fucking dipshit with decent coordination can throw and catch a ball. take that from football and add a tinier ball that travels at speeds way faster than that stupid eye shaped ball.

first of all, you get 3 strikes per at bat. like 10 pitches at the most if you foul off like 5 straight, which you obviously couldn't do. you obviously also don't understand how fast 90 miles an hour is from 60 feet away, and the conecpt of a breaking or off speed pitch.


a fucking varsity pitcher could put 3 curveballs in the dirt and you'd swing at every one, saying "it looked like it was going to be a strike." they wouldn't have to throw much harder than 60. or, they could throw 3 curveballs at your elbows, and you would fall to the ground trying to get out of the way and the ump would call every one a strike after the ball quickly darts back into the box.

even if by some miracle you do hit the ball, now your swing has to be efficient enough to put it in a place where 9 different fucking fielders aren't. pop one up and don't put it over the fence, 999 times out of 1000, it will be caught. infield grounder will get you out 9 out of 10 times, but for you it's probably 99 out of 100 considering how little arm strength and how inefficient your swing probably is, since you haven't been through hours of adjusting and tweaking your swing.

you probably also don't understand that a strong swing comes from a strong core. literally pushups and situps will help you have a stronger swing.

i'm going to get some response to this about how lacrossee players are more athletic and could do anything a baseball player does. why don't you save yourself some time, shut the fuck up, and get educated.

your clearly to fucking stupid to comprehend the scenarios stated above. They were saying if you got 100 pitches in a row then taking 1000 PKs in a row. So now that your entire argument is destroyed, try again.

Get educated that every muscle you use in baseball, is used in lacrosse. Shooting is the same motion as swinging a bat. So not only can I probably swing a bat just as good as you, I can also sprint for two hours, lay you the fuck out, and hit a spot on a net the size of a half dollar from 15 yards...on the run...while being defended. So yes, I am way more athletic than you.

Like someone said above. Hitting a baseball doesn't make you an athlete. Its just a skill. Just like fading/drawing a golfball 300+ yards. Its a skill. In lacrosse, not only do you have to have the endurance to sprint for minutes continuously, dodging left and right to avoid people with metal poles from hitting you, but you have to have footwork, and the best hand eye coordination, and VISION to see where your teammates are, where they will be, and what the best move is, all while trying not to get the shit beat out of you.

In baseball, a pitcher might throw 4 different types of pitches. And you would not believe the scouting that goes into pitchers for the opposing team. I sat 4th row behind the home plate for an indians game, and a Braves scout was watching our pitcher, timing how long he took between pitches, timing how long from when he set, to throw the ball, what pitch he threw, and the patterns on what he threw to the particular style of the batter (power hitter, finesse, etc). Going into a game I am sure each hitter already has an idea of what kind of pitch he will be expecting. You can narrow it down to make an educated decision to swing or not.

people can probably stop claiming that any sport requires that you sprint for "minutes" in any sport because it sounds absolutely stupid. If it's taking you minutes of nonstop sprinting to go from one end of a lacrosse/football/soccer field to the other, you probably can't argue about athletic ability.

And yes, i realize you don't mean nonstop sprinting. But if that's the case, then you can't argue it. It's like saying baseball is nonstop sprinting, only you do it in 90ft intervals, and sometimes there's minutes between when you do it. I've watched lacrosse/football, and i play soccer...and trust me, there's plenty of time when you aren't at a dead sprint.



And from personal experience, i can tell you that a 90mph+ pitch coming at you is a hell of a lot faster than you would ever believe. I played baseball my whole life and was quite good at it, and even i was blown away at just how little time you really have. Even something as simple as timing your swing to at least miss while the ball is in a hittable position is quite a challenge. You simply don't have time for anything.

Honestly i think it's a regional thing. Surefire way to tell if it's an outsider going to school in new england is by what they call it. We call it exclusively beirut. Everyone else seems to call it beer pong. Regardless of what you call it though...getting drunk playing it is fun. Actual paddle beer pong is hard as hell but a ton of fun though.
