Yep. Got a new macbook pro... not using the old one, it's just collecting dust.
It still works aside from the backlight being out. When you shine a light on it, you can still see that stuff is going on on the screen. I've checked out kits and they are like $30 for a new light, but its pretty hard to do which is why they recommend having someone pro do it which costs anywhere from $100 to $400 to have done.
It is the intel core processor with a 160gb hard drive and 2gb of memory. The battery lasts for 1 - 2 hours depending on what you are doing with it. I just used it as my desktop and attached a screen to it.
The disk drive still works, but it is super super sensitive. One scratch and it's a no go.. doesn't burn disks any longer though.
Reason the backlight/cd rom aren't working properly is that I happened to drop it on the thin side where the screen attaches on a sharp corner. So now it has a really awesome dent, but again, the screen connection still works and the power and all that is good. There is also some scuffing on the place where your right wrist would sit.
Ebay has ones with fried logic boards going for $300. My logic board is fine, but I realize the screen can either be a cheep or expensive fix. To make said offer more appealing, I will gladly leave CS5 installed for you. Oh, and it's running on 10.5
I'd like $400.
