This thread will hopefully help clean up a lot of threads about the GoPro Camera.

First off... if you have a GoPro and lost your manual go here

this has instruction manuals for all of their cameras and also the Firmware Update to use Battery Pack, 3D system and Screen attachments.

Editing-
I reccomend editing GoPro footage on any of these programs
MACS:
Imovie
Final Cut Pro

PC:
Adobe Premiere Elements
Adobe Elements Pro
Windows Movie Maker


NOTE: When editing it makes the video/picture so much better if you change around the saturation, brightness and color settings. It makes the colors deeper and richer.

If anyone else has programs that work well post below.

Now. I have bought a lot of attachments over the last year and a half.

Screen Attachment is very useful 10/10
Flotation Attachment - works great - holds weight of camera. 10/10
Tripod attachment - its what you expect. 10/10
Anti Fog Inserts - reusable and work great. 10/10

I have been using the GoPro for nearly 2 years. I am not an expert but I do know a lot about the camera so if you have any questions send me a message or post below.

Hello,

Im editing with a macbook at the moment and it doesnt look like i'll be getting a pro or an imac for quite some time.

Made a couple of summer editis using imovie9 and imovie HD but its very limited so i got hold of a cpoy of final cut express. Doesnt seem to work very well on the macbook so my question is could I use imovie for the majority of editing work then compress the movie and import to final cut for colour correction and a few more advanced effects?

Or would it be better to struggle through the slow work through running final cut without a scratch disk on an under powered laptop?

Any opinions welcome cept trolls.

I used this one with no problems, except that it took like a good 12 hours to download. but just let it sit overnight and during school or work or something and it'll be ready to install when you get back.

i dont have any sort of editor at all, i have never used one, what is the cheapest and esiest to use. I have windows 7, any advice?

Are the anti-fog inserts similar to the things found in some food packaging, for example, beef jerky?
And if so, do you think that the packets from food packaging would work?
It's not a huge problem for me, it only happens on hot days when the camera is pointing towards the sun for a long time.

i also have windows 7, and videopad is very good except you have to pay. since youve never edited ever then i would suggest that you convert the gopro files into .avi or whatever and use with windows moviemaker

Got me the tripod mount and a little Gorillapod - works great fro timelapse etc and you can plant them anywhere.

I messed around with sony vegas a little but at the time I was on a really slow computer and it was annoying.

I would like to add some titles, fade ins and outs, (crop footage?), speed up and slow down the footage, music of course, and work with the color saturation brightness etc.  I'm sure I will have other needs but thats just whats on my mind.  

What do you think would be the best to suit my needs.  I really dont want to use WMM because I would like to use software that I can become comfortable on and will allow me to use more features in the future.  I plan to watch the guide vids and get learned on the software.  + lots of K and a big thanks for any help

premiere elements sounds about right for you. i dont know what it can do color wise but i know for sure that it can do all of those other things. its what i learned to edit on, its a great program

It does have color stuff. I've never used lightworks but from what I understand it's awesome for being free but difficult to use compared to other video software

So I think I am going to use adobe premier elements, anyone know any reason why lightworks would be better?  I don't want to work with a program and then decide a different one would be better.  Thanks

i recently downloaded lightworks and its pretty legit. wmm will always export it in really shitty quality, lightworks is the best free program

So i got light works and when i go to import files they dont show up.  They are in MP4 and everything i find on the internet says lightworks works fine with MP4, anyone know why im having this problem?

I downloaded streamclip and saved my file as MOV but it still says the frame rate is 59 and wont work, anyone else have this problem?

They look a bit different to me but in theory they just do the same thing so it seems to me like it could work. I've also heard that throwing a few uncooked grains of rice inside the housing with the camera will do the trick as well.

Has anyone else broken off the little arms on the mounting things on their cameras? I broke both of them on one, and one on the other one by basically only putting them into mounts a couple of times.

I saw in one of Abe from USC S+SB club to put GoPro's new software on your camera for color correcting. I couldn't find one specifically for CC, but does the latest one just have everything on it? Are the updates accumulative?

They just snapped off while sliding the camera into a mount. Guess I'll email GoPro, hopefully they're cool about it.

thats what the little white thing is for, it prevents those from being snapped. although i'm sure you broke it while taking it out in which case you can't have the white thing in. it helps keep everything stable too.

i broke the little pieces on the head strap that receive the go pro case, i fixed it with super glue cause it didn't break all the way. actually i modded the head mount too, i'll get pictures soon.

basically, I took the strap from an old helmet and attached it to the head strap so it doesn't get blasted off my head in quick movements or from waves. It worked too as you can see by this short clip I took from some video I have from surfing. It was right after that hurricane so we got pounded all day with no good waves. I used the exact same help guide when making mine. I just used a telescopic paint roller. Ripped the roller bit off and Wa-la!

Yeah they're really stable too if you turn on the upside down mode and hold it with the camera toward the ground

Yeah, would totally make sense to do that. Would really have to get into the habit of remembering its on that setting when I put on other mounts. Like it matters, but will no doubt forget.
