Windells Academy?

my grades slipped last year because skiing was taking over and i just heard about windells academy?
has anyone gone there that could tell me what its like? it sounds perfect for me and my lifestyle.
im super siked and my parents are looking in to it
its super expensive though so is it worth it?

The best way for you to find out is by emailing them or checking out the website http://windellsacademy.com/. I myself have not attended, but I worked at camp last year and heard some things about it. Hopefully somebody from the actual academy on here pm's you and tells you their thoughts. Good luck!

its really expensive but you can be on snow 365 days a year and go to school so its probably worth it but i wouldnt ever be able to go cause its so expensive

if you want a real education no, dont go there. it is not a good school. i would recomend somthing like the winter sports acedemy in park city where you go to school in the summer. windells academy is a joke.

There are much better ski academies education wise. Windells is online high school. Prep schools like holderness and proctor to name a few offer skiing 6 days a week I'm pretty sure and have a better education program. Same with the Park city one mentioned above and, Mt. Mansfield Winter Academy. I don't know much about the other academies.

even though i haven't attended a ski academy a lot of my friends have and what ii would suggest is staying at your local school and going to an academy during febuary and march, still get a solid education and almost everything that happens is in those two months as far as competitions and you're still pretty much just in your school

Skiing wise...It kicks ass. Education wise... It sucks. The winter sports school here in PC is really good from what I hear. I know a couple friends that go there. They said its a lot of school work but it all pays off.

i can see how kids parents justify spending 50gs a year for a school like this. thats 5 times as much as i pay for tuition.

but if money is not a problem, go for it. you get to fucking ski 320+ days a year, youll defiantly progress alot skiing too.

they are strict as fuck though(drug testing n shit). i would personally not have wanted to attend there

Windells Academy is legit. 9 kids graduated this past spring and where excepted into legit Colleges from the east to the west coast. Their are three teachers on hand each and every week. The campus is sick and is host to the only snowboard and ski park in North America in September and October. They have a traveling team that visits Whistler, Baker, Mt. Bachelor, Utah, Colorado, Tahoe, Jackson Hole, Mammoth and more... The kids visit snowboard and ski factories, meet the people that call the shots at 9 leading brands in the Winter sports industry.

The kids also stay in houses with 2 room mates.

First off it is not 50 grand a year. This just makes you guys sound not legit when you are repling to these threads. Do alittle research and you will find the facts, you can call the camp to find out more too if you wish. As far as the education piece you do get a good education. I went to public school and believe me you get much more out of the online school process if you dont like listening to lectures. Students this year got into University of BC, University of VT, and UT. As we all know you are a skier and not concerned with getting straight As just getting by with enough time to ski. Windells Academy is the best place to balance school work and progress your skiing in the fastest way. Lots of you Youngsters are not even done with the school precess and dont have a valid opinion on what makes a good vs bad education.

hahhahaha. you must have gone to a shitty public school because i know kids who go there and they are dumb as bricks. literally a junior in highschool and she has yet to do algebra or geometry. also my friend who considered goig there said he got to see the ciriculum and it was a joke. also, are those mediocre schools really suposed to impress anyone. looks like someone is upset because they blew 50k on a school for retards.

Dexter, you have no room to vouch for the education after that post. Moomoo: if you don't like listening to lectures, I doubt those students who were accepted into legit universities will last that long. High school is really to prepare you for college, so what good does it do if it can't prepare you?

ive always been under the impression that highschool education is what you make it. in the long run highschool doesnt really matter. if you want to be really smart and learn a lot you can do that anywhere, ski academy, public school, online. i think windells academy is sick because you have the ability to be on snow so much and you have tons of sick indoor and out door skate facilites at your disposal.

Dexter isn't a student (I don't think) but knowing who it is might make you even more inclined to hate on the academy.

However its a good program and kids are learning while skiing almost all year. Whoever was blasting on the academics of the program can go eat a dick. Learning is 10 times better when its 2 teachers to 10 students. Who is going to give a better education? A teacher that has 100+ students, or a teacher that has 15?

Mike the head guy of the academy runs a tight ship, and if your fucking up in school you have to stay down to work instead of skiing.

Yeah the only problem is that you can do the schooling they do online in your own home. I could go sign up right now to a simalar program at a fraction of that price. And what ever you say,I still know a lot of people who have tried it out and they say the academic are on par with special needs classes. I know you can't say negative things about your employer but please don't come on here and lie to us. It is a shit school with awesome skiing. If you think you will go pro it is a great school, if you just like to ski but want to also be an educated person then probably not for you.

park city winter school also drug tests
i have like 8 friends who go there and they are all heavy spice smokers to get past the whole "drug test" situation
but other than that skiing PC all winter is not that bad of a trade off
