First job interview

What kind of questions will this grocery store be asking me at my interview today? I'm 16 and it will be my first job.

Also what should i wear? khakis and a polo?

They'll ask you about your expierience, see if you are good with people, skills you have. Just be confident.

Khakis and a polo work fine for that.

just be a gregarious version of yourself. the manager wants to be sure you are good with people and can count out change quickly. Make sure you can do arithmetic well and youre set. thats pretty much it.

just try and turn the interview into a conversation.

You'll need to find a partner. Interviewing as a team is always better than by yourself. Then call your local bridal shop and get your hands on some tuxedos ASAP! Also making a nautical themed rap video will probably help.

The most important things about interviewing from my experience is that you need to be confident but still friendly (don't come off as a douche, sometimes tough to do when talking about your best skills), and you need to be able to answer questions on the spot. They could ask you anything really. It's okay to think about what to say for a little while, just answer every question well, and never say I don't know (goes back against the confidence thing).

Oh, and interviewers generally ask if you have any questions at the end. Don't just say "When will I know if I'm hired?" Ask something about the company that shows that you're really interested. It could be anything, it's up to you.

Most job interviews ask the same type of questions. If you fail this one, don't worry. On your 4th or 5th try you'll start to memorize the answers

ANSWER QUESTIONS WITHOUT HAVING TO THINK. IF YOU CNT THINK OF S GOOD ANSWER RIGHT AWAY THEN JUST RAMBLE UNTILL IT COMES TO YOU

if it takes you 5+ interviews to get a job, then youre doing it wrong. the hardest part by far is getting the interview.

I failed my first one completely then got it on my second try at a different place. I just googled common job interview questions.

Remember the 4 p's: 1) preparation 2) preparation 3) preparation 4) go to the bathroom beforehand. In all seriousness though, know everything you can about the company before the interview. An employer once asked me who was in the picture on the front page of their website. Random question, but I didn't know and looked bad. Its the little stuff that counts.

its just a grocery store so i think you will get the job even if you mess up the interview. they are just making sure you aren't a fuck up and have the ability to stock shelves.

a nice summery outfit is a pair of beige or light colored shorts and a dark collared shirt.

if it was something more formal, your obvious dress pants and dress shirt, but not when it's something casual.

questions you should know the answer to are:
what are your long term / short term goals
what do you want to do with your life / where do you see yourself in 10 years
why do you think you'd be a valuable member to a team
describe yourself in one word, explain
what are some of your best / worst qualities

and then your typical:
explain a time where you had to be a leader or take on a leadership role
explain a time where there was a conflict that you had to resolve and how you went about doing that
explain your prior work experience with people / on a team
explain any community involvement and what position you had in that

even if these questions aren't asked directly, you should find a way to throw them into an interview and discuss why you're a confident person with ambition and positive qualities, etc etc.
