hey ns surfers,
me and my family are going to california in a few days. we are making a 3 week tour and i would really like to stay at one spot one the coast for 2-4 days to go surfing a little. I have been surfing before, but only like 2 weeks in my entire life. So im looking for a beginner spot, which isnt at the most crowded village with tons of tourists and i also need something like a surf shop where i can rent my gear. So if you know some good places, please leave an answer!
Thank you, Hannes

Sorry. I'm on mobile NS. Anyway, your best bet is probably Santa Cruz area (Aptos, SC, and Capitola. If you can make it in late August or early September you'll be there after most schools around the state get in so there will be less tourists. Go midweek because it's a weekend vacation hotspot. Don't count on great surfing, that's usually in the winter time. Hope that helps!

go to surfline.com and check central california. they have cameras at all the beaches so you can see what the waves are like that day

Where I am actually.
Ventura,CA. Its about an hour or 1.5 hours North of LA, a few spots you can surf out for a begginer, and def not super touristry. Your family will like the scenery, good main street area, and a ton of good restraunts.
Theres surfers point, and surfers knoll, and depending on when your down here, theres going to be a surf contest at the local naval base, no entry fee or skill level, and feautures some of the best surfing on the coast.
If you want more info, shoot me a PM, and ill give you my number, and when you come around, text you some of the spots to hit up
