Windells next summer?

There is a chance my parents might help me fund a week at Windells next summer (including the flight, i live in PA), but for some reason I feel uneasy about going. First of all, I've heard some stories about kids getting mildly harassed for sucking. The problem is, I mildly suck. My rail game is basically just 270s on, blind/fs 270s out, fs/blind swaps. At this point my best trick on a jump is a grabbed 5. I've been skiing for as long as I remember, and I've been skiing park for several seasons, but for some reason I've never really progressed that much. I have a while to think about it, but a lot of you have recently gone to camp so I want your thoughts. Should I just stay away due to my lack of skill? Also, I know it's the funnest place of earth, but how are the vibes there? Are kids chill?

I search barred, but didn't find anything that similar to my question. +K for good advice.

270 on blind 270 is probably better than a lot of the kids at windells. and grabbed 5s isnt bad either. i think windells would be perfect for you. if kids are getting harrassed i would say its kids who wear like full saga suits but can even 3 and can only slide rails. at windells you could learn 7s some flips or switch ups. its a great place. my first year there i could only do 5s and 270 out. now i can do way way more after being there for 2 years. i would say go go go! u will have the time of your life

assuming they straighten everything out with the coaches it will be the best week of you life. I wen't a few years ago in the same position as you, and all I heard was encouragement. If you at all can, go.

Well, you have a whole season to get better...

Also, I know kids who've gone to Windells knowing less than you, killing it, and coming back better. Don't worry about getting harassed, just enjoy the experience and get better while you're there, that and having fun is the whole point of ski camp.

You don't exactly suck...

If money is a potential problem, I suggest you check out Mt Hood Summer Ski Camps. It is the lesser known, no-frills version of Windell's. It costs a little over half what Windell's does. It doesn't have all the cool shit, but I keep hearing the vibe is better. I work there, and I can tell you that is the funnest place I have ever been to. Searchbar the thread comparing these two camps, and check my sig for a link to their site. Yeah, the website is ghetto, but then again they've never spent much money on marketing.

if you can already do those tricks you say you can youll be better than 70% of the campers. a fair amount come that just want to go to a summer camp that has skiing as an activity. they usually leave the hill before 2. the kids that come to progress usually become friends with each other and hang with the coaches in the afternoon session jumps, rails, and pipe to push each other.

I never once felt like i was going to get harassed because of my skill level. In my group we had a kid who's skills where not up to par with the rest of the group, and all the other guys where supportive and would give him tips and pointers. The only thing I can think of is for me it was a little intimadating trying tricks in front of pros but after the first day that goes away. Other than that the vibe is awesome you get back from the hill and after video review you get to do what ever the fuck you want its amazing. best week of my life i say go for it

I went session 4 this year. My best trick was a 7 with a grab and some decent rail tricks. The kids at windells, half of them are complete posers. Don't go thinking that you'll be picked on or whatever, go thinking that this will be the best week of your life. You get to ski in the summer! and as goes for the thing with thinking you suck in front of pros. you'll get over it, they're mad supportive and ask for help if you need it. i remember being on the plane next to my friend and as we passed mount hood we both looked at eachother and said that this is gonna be awesome. so get stoked kid! have some fun and try to progress even more this season than last season.

Go to Camp of Champions, if you get made fun of (Which you probably wont) you can complain and get the kid(s) kicked out lol. It would be a real dick move though lol.

honestly why are you thiniing about doing it next summer. it's baout to be winter, why don't you just save your money and ski an extra 7 days and get just as good without spending all ur rents cash. for real

While skiing is my biggest reason for going, it also seems like the camp is a ton of fun off the hill. Plus I've never gone to a legitimate overnight summer camp and I want to go before I graduate high school. I work at my local resort (free unlimited pass) and it is ten minutes away. I'd love to get on a plane with all my friends and go out to CO over winter break, but I don't think that would fly with my parents. Windells is the next best thing.

I went to Windells this year and I didn't meet a single id who would call anybody out for their skiing! It was also such a fun experience and I would definitely recommend going whatever your skill level is! (Assuming the coaching issue is sorted out by next year)

i went to windells session 4 this year being worse than you... as long as your chill nobody will harass you. the only time i witnessed somebody get picked on was when the kid kept snaking the tramp line to do 3's on the tramp. if you're not a dick nobody will be a dick to you and most people will help you out alot
