Trip out west... where to go?!?!

So me and my buddy who ski 100% park on the east coast are planning a trip out west this winter.  I went last year to salt lake city and skied Alta, Park City, The Canyons, and Deer Valley.  The syle of skiing we are looking for would be NO park and almost 100% tree lines.  Last year I enjoyed the varitey of places like Alta compared to The Canyons and Deer Valley.  All had really badass tree lines with different types of terrain and trees to ride through.

So here's my question... where should i go this year?  My buddy has never been out west and I want him to have the same experience I had last year.  I would be down to go back to utah but have also talked about Breckenridge/other colorado places, Whistler, and Tahoe.  Like I said, I woud want almost 100% tree lines with powder and a variety of terrain/trees.  What would you all recomend.

Jackson. Snowbird. Squaw. Mammoth. Whistler. Revelstoke.

Don't bother with anywhere else, they are watered down versions of those places...They of course all have at least one resort near by if you need an escape, but those are the best of the west. Except Silverton, but you need to have at least 3 years worth of facial hair to really enjoy it.

id stay towards the east, i heard hunter mountain has some of the best trees around

For strictly tree skiing, whitefish and steamboat blow everything out of the water in my opinion.

If you want 100% park. Wait till the summer...drive hood, buy a summer pass, camp at trillium, ride a super fun park and have a great summer adventure for under 3grand. I did it this summer and plan on doing it for many years to come.

2. Someone could live in break and get an epic pass and ski for 5-6 months for the same pirce as 2-3 months in hood and the park is 10000 times better at breck then at hood in the summer.

 So Alta is a watered down version of snowbird? Wouldnt the open boundries and easy acess to wolvie tusc sunset and snake creek make it less watered down vrs the birds mineral gate to meh? Youve skied both I assume. And the bcc and snowbasin and powmow so this watered down thing is based on being to these other mountains and experiencing them right?

 Revelstokes killer but the bottom 2k was rain and pretty well watered down on one of our trips I assume youve skied there too though.

Jackson cool short season and witches tit cold at times isnt it just a watered down version of the grand teton range?

squaws is the shizz but its such the shizz that it can tend to be a bit crowded and I dont remember a whole lot of tree skiing but again I assume youve been there.

Never been to Mammoth so I cant really say to much there but Im sure youve been and can add more

My point is

either I dont think youve been to a lot of these places so well that kind of jades it

 or everyplace has the potential to be the suck nirvana or somewhere inbetween based on ullrs blessings at the time

there is no point this was just what came out of my concious typing of thought

OP dont go back to UT again last seasons probably gonna be hard to top and going new places is cool

go to tahoe theres a bunch of good resorts there that arent too far apart. squaws the best but there isnt that much tree skiing but for trees you can go to homewood or something. its all trees there

you will get no skiing in all lines, deffinatly vail!!! one of my favs lots of great trees if you know where to go but jackson for sure try it talk to the locals, post ing the regional thread before yo go!
if you like steeps telliuride or a basin there is some great steeps.
again fuck breck tourist trap/ park rat heaven

Danm girl I can refer to pink names as girl I assume, not ment as disrespect, you didnt need to send me a pm and explain. I just thought the watered down thing sounded odd and I had a feeling youve never actually skied a lot of those places I wasnt so much trying to harp you, but make the point that almost every resort has some cool shizz and a good skier ought to be able to have a great day at any of them given good conditions. Sure Queer Valley and the wealthy groominator that make up its primary clientel isnt as gnar as the turd, but you better believe that my skibum ass was there skiing 18 in of pow insead of waiting in the lcc lemming line all day to ski 28 in with only chickadee running. My season slinging drinks there was a blast and I <3 that place. You should post that pm here. Maybe I will. Maybe instead of posting today Ill see how many pink names I can get to befreind me. I dont have any freinds yet.

Schweitzer, ID! 2,900 acres, awesome North Idaho snow (and in an upcoming La Niña year no less), steep and deep, top-rated nationally for trees, a nice park if you decide, hey, why not? 10 lifts, with two HSQs and Idaho's only six-pack. Plenty of awesome tree skiing. There's a thread in Idaho Regionals called "Schweitzer Help?" that has a ton of useful info that I posted. Do it.

perhaps next time she will put an IMO in front of  what i felt was kind of a big reach and knowing that she hasnt actually skied most of those places I will weight that opinion as such

schweitzer is pretty darn flat, it doesnt get a whole lot of snow, it rains a fair amount, and is out in the middle of now where.


there are better options in every direction.

I have noticed your hostility towards this mountain and has grown old. sure it has its bad days but doesn't every mountain? And we still have a kickass year regardless of the weather. its called nutting up and enjoy the mountain which still has a shit ton to offer. But I must worn you..... Schweitzer does not like haters

he is asking for the best places out west to go skiing...can you in good conscience put schweitzer in the class of Altabird, Squaw/alpine, baker, crystal, and jackson hole?

And i think my review of schweitzer as a mountain was pretty spot on. What was incorrect about it?

of course alta, squaw...etc are great. and really you can't. we dont have the money like other resorts do. but Schweitzer has a little bit of everything. and is a great family resort due to their hospitality and experience. and the lifties aren't assholes

its a good place to go in between the other mountains like from Big Sky to Crystal. It is still a great mountain. They didn't rate #3 in the US for tree skiing for nothing....

its like you are trying to hook up your buddy up with a solid 7 because she isnt really terrible anywhere, has a great personality, and would be a good hookup in between hooking up with other actually hot girls...

its not that great of a mountain, and you get on those kind of lists by throwing down advertisment money.

On NS, a solid 7 is a 3, and Schweitzer is in no way a 3.  Schweitzer, in the scheme of things, is probably an 8, and my home mountain in southern PA is a 3.  The guy made a suggestion, stop hating.  I highly doubt OP is going to go to Schweitzer...

I used to have a pass to squaw, great place to ski. My friends also love alpine meadows. But if you only want pow skiing, hit up montana for sure
