So I posted this in a thread that is a year old, probably useless, so I'm making a new thread. I'll sparknote the bottom.
After much research, planning and thinking, I am going to ECUADOR! I'm going over my winter break from college, for about two weeks. It was just recently finalized. I'm going with other students, we are hoping to have 25 students go total, that is our goal. Realistically we will have between 15-20. The students are from my college in upstate NY, a few other colleges in NY and Berkley. We are going for roughly two weeks, and planting trees, restoring a mangrove and working on the garden at a local school. We have cut costs by changing where we will stay. We are sleeping in hammocks on the beach, basically for free. So any money that would have gone to an apartment or hotel will go into more trees. We planning on planting over a 1000 trees a day (the group of us) for like I said about two weeks. Our goal I think right now is 10000 trees, restoring the mangrove (and this mangrove has multiple kinds of life growing in it, it's sort of rare and you bet pictures will come up after I go) and the garden.
Now all I have left is fundraising! Any ideas? I might make a new trip for fundraising ideas unless this one gets some attention. I've already told all my family members to not get me anything for the holidays, rather sponsor something about the trip. My friends and I are also planning a bake sale. Any other ideas?
Sparknotes: I'm going to Ecuador to mainly help plant trees. What should I do to raise money?
