Car Sound System

Hey all. I want to put some subwoofers in the back of my car. I haven't the slightest clue where to start and what I need. I was thinking maybe one 10 in the back but idk. And what type of amp and wiring and everything would I need? Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks.

i just installed my kicker 4-800 watt kicker 10" today and it hits plenty hard for my tiburon. plus the sound is pretty contained to inside the car so its killer inside but you dont sound like a moron outside. i bought the sub plus box and pioneer 760 watt amp for $150 on amazon and installed it myself. cheap but pretty high quality.

whats your budget? thats a major thing. and id get everything off crutchfield. i only go kenwood or alpine

Don't do 2 subs unless you want your car vibrating. The majority of people who put more than one sub in only like to bounce around. I actually enjoy my music. One 10" alpine type r and 2 6x9 speakers hooked up to a 600watt jbl amp is perfect for me

ha yea what a huge waste of money...your going to look like a tool driving around bumping msic that loud. I have never been in a car that doesnt go loud enough to the point where i feel like my head is goign to explode. Save your money kid...unless you blew out a speaker or something use it for something useful and wont bother other people on the road

ok fuck all of these people who think subs are a waste of money.. just adding a sub will make your car sound lightyears better then it did before. Youll be able to turn the bass down on your speakers taking the stress off them making them louder and sound better (assuming you don't have after market speakers already) ANDD gettin a solid bass from the sub, you don't have to be bangin gangster rap "annoying other drivers" (who really cares)  to really enjoy a sub. Bottom line  It will make all music / any sound in your car a lot better

Are kenwood subs good? The package I'm looking at is a 12 kenwood with a 400w amp for 120$

that pakage sucks... the 400w is a peak watt, only go by the RMS rating. which is only 150w.

your going to want around 500w rms.

ihave a Alpine 12" Type-r, with 500rms to it, and a 4gauge wire kit. 440 out the door (made own box to factory specs)

i have a single 10 inch rockford fosgate punch in my truck and it bumps pretty hard
