PRIOR SNOWBOARDS ANNOUNCES INTRODUCTION OF PRIOR SKI
First Snowboard Manufacturer to Bring Skis to Market
Whistler, Canada -- July 29, 2004 -- Whistler based Prior Snowboards, known throughout the world as manufacturers of premium, handcrafted snowboards, has announced the introduction of the Prior Ski in limited release for 2004/05. After several hundred test days on B.C. slopes by a wide range of expert skiers in all types of winter conditions, the ski is ready for the market.
This all-mountain freeride ski is designed for and excels in Whistler-type terrain where natural features, deep snow, big manmade park and pipe hits, and immense mountain slopes are the standard. The ski is built for intermediate and advanced skiers who push their limits daily.
'The introduction of the ski is a natural progression of who we are as a company,' says Chris Prior, company founder. 'We thrive in a town where skiers and boarders live and play together. Prior celebrates everything that allows people to have fun in the snow and skis are part of that.'
The ski has received a great deal of local 'buzz' during the past 16 months as a wide range of local experts and pros have been invited to demo the ski as often as they want in exchange for providing input at the end of their session. Feedback has been positive from the first prototypes, and has lead to a series of improvements to make the ski more durable and handle better in a wider variety of conditions.
'Skiers have been encouraging us to make a ski for the past four or five years,' recalls Prior. 'Our custom snowboard factory and experience working with various composites meant that many things were already in place to make a ski. Plus, being based in Whistler has meant that our access to research and development is unparalleled. It's a win-win situation- techonological advances and information we have gathered from the development of the ski has also benefited our snowboard line.'
The ski is being released in a limited quantity for 2004/05 and interested customers are encouraged to contact Prior soon, as demand has been strong. The skis are available in six lengths (165, 171, 175, 181, 188, 193) and can be ordered directly from the Prior factory or at the new web site www.priorskis.com (as of October 1, 2004).
